We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Schwartz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to offer women high quality, wildcrafted herbal extracts made with the intention of supporting their wellness inside and out.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I make handcrafted herbal remedies made from medicinal plants that are native to the Colorado region. Unlike many herbal companies that use essential oils, Plant Healing Woman is known for our whole plant extracts that mimic true ancestral herbal practices. What does this mean? We spend HOURS, sometimes weeks infusing herbs into oils and fat to extract their aromatic qualities in a natural and sustainable way to create extremely lovely- smelling skincare that is RICH in the medicinal qualities of the plants.

In a world where most people do not know that essential oils are unsustainable and can be dangerous for our skin’s microbiome, it is quite hard to go against the mainstream and proudly state that we do not support essential oils in any form. Working with the whole plants not only require a significant amount of plant material, but also time which therefore means more hours of labor for me and my team as we create these medicines.

It has been difficult to find herbal practitioners that deeply understand both the scientific and energetic properties of the plants but I overcame this by slowly mentoring various women into new paradigm shift so that they can understand not only how to make medicine in this unique way but also the deeper WHY behind it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmm, I would definitely take them to Quiero Arepas on Pearl street as that is my absolute FAVORITE local restaurant to eat at and then we’d drive up the canyon to take a sweet dip into a mountain created rainfall. We would then drive up to a camp spot, set up camp, gaze at the moon, sing songs around a campfire, and harvest wild medicines in the area 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout Phoebe, Jules, and Eva, my assistants, that have helped me reach more women not only through their foraging support (they help me harvest the medicines to turn them into medicines and skincare) but also through their marketing support,
