Meet Jayson Henninger | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayson Henninger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jayson, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I love traveling, adventure and in general having cool experiences. I can’t think of a better way to document them by taking pictures and videoing when they happen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I think sets my photos apart from others is instead of focusing on the perfect picture, I try and capture the moments that are happening around me so that other people can be inspired to also start traveling and living for experiences outside of normal life. I got where I’m at professionally I’d say rather quickly however it involved a very long year of trial and error of seeing what worked and what didn’t. Thankfully I had people who helped me along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I currently live in Lincoln Nebraska so if a friend came to visit we’d immediately leave. I’d head to Denver and it’s them spend the night and next day in the rocky. I’d love to hike the 14ers that they have around there and spend time in the national forests. I’d then take them over to Norwood Colorado. That area, especially around ouray, is one of my absolute favorite places to go. I’d definitely would take them to Maggie’s kitchen in ouray the corner ice cream shop. The rest of the week id spend hiking several of the San Juan peaks with them.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Christopher Hayward got me interested in cameras back in 2016. We started going to downtown Kc and taking pictures. It was because of him that I ended up getting my first camera, a rebel t6 which I still use today. Fast forward to 2021 I went overseas to Micronesia as a P.E teacher. While over there I met Tobias Novak who taught me how to actually use my camera and how to make the pictures look even better by editing them in light room. He taught me a lot about composition, colors and the reasoning behind why a picture looks good.
