We had the good fortune of connecting with jean herman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi jean, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I had a 20-year career as CEO of the local Better Business Bureau. In hindsight I often let my career override other priorities, such as family. When I retired from this full-time career to start my art, I thought I would balance my life better. In general, I have been able to accomplish that goal. As I say to my daughters and friends, ” It is hard to do a personality transplant”. Thus, I engage in a lot of self-talk to make sure I am living a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have become accomplished in creating my art. I love fiber and stitch and am learning to become more abstract with my work. My work is unique, and my voice of storytelling is always present. I consider myself a newbie in learning the new world of selling art. I am a member of Sync Gallery and love the opportunity to physically show my work. I believe new opportunities exist online though. I recently joined a new platform for my website called Art Store Fronts. It has taken off and I am selling more art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here are some of my favorites: The Denver Art Museum and then Art Hotel for cocktails. I would schedule dinner at Bistro Vendome outside on the patio. I would ask them to join me and bike together on the Cherry creek trail. If it is a Sunday in the Summer, I would take them for a picnic in city park for jazz. Better yet, we could  hear jazz at Dazzle. We could drive  up to the mountains, see Lake Dillon, hike Lily pad lakes, and find a meal in Frisco.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I want to shoot out my friend Molly French who recently helped me engage in social media actively. By starting that I engaged anew web hosting and marketing support team on Art Store Fronts. I am learning so much about art marketing.
