We had the good fortune of connecting with Jed & Sandy Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jed & Sandy, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Jed was born and raised in Virginia and Sandy was born and raised in Maryland. We both come from families that didn’t have many financial resources. Since we weren’t able to afford college at the time, we both made the decision to join the military at a young age (which is also where we met in 2002). Jed served for 14 years and Sandy served for 10. The military taught us about independence, responsibility, hard work, and going after the American dream, and aspiring to live better lives. After we separated from the military, we both used our GI Bill to go to college, where we both became registered nurses. After gaining experience, we started working as Emergency Room travel nurses, which allowed us the opportunity to travel around the USA and also travel abroad in between our nursing contracts. In 2018, while taking some time off, we went to Spain and walked 500 miles across the country on a pilgrimage route called the Camino de Santiago. It was life-changing for us. We spent 36 days walking and it made us realize how little we need to be happy. After we returned from that trip, we made the decision to get out of debt. We sold what we didn’t need, downsized, paid everything off, and in February 2020, we worked our last shifts as nurses, with aspirations of starting our travel vlog and seeing the world full-time. We can’t tell you how many conversations we’ve had with people who were critically ill and expressed their regrets for the things they didn’t do in their lives; we didn’t want that to be our story. So here we are, 2 years into traveling full-time in the USA (of course, COVID kept us from going global). Hopefully, we will be back to international travel very soon! It’s hard to step out of our comfort zone and do something scary (quitting our jobs was the scariest thing we’ve done), but the rewards have been bountiful. We truly feel that anything is possible for us.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We LOVE to travel and we LOVE sharing our travels with our audience even more. We are proud to say that we weren’t afraid to take the risk of leaving jobs that were no longer fulfilling us and venture out on our own. We are 100% self-taught on filming content, photography, editing, and all the ins and outs of running our content creation business, Wanderful Revolution. It definitely hasn’t been easy, there have been lots of ups and downs. We struggle all the time, but it’s 100% for us and that helps us through! The idea of inspiring others to travel or follow their dreams fulfills us like no other job we’ve had in our lives. We want others to know that anything is possible, sometimes you have to come up with creative solutions or make hard decisions that get you to where you want to be, BUT if we can live the life of our dreams, so can you.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For us, Jed’s mom was a huge inspiration. She was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in 2009. We spent time caring for her while she was in hospice care and listened to her stories, dreams, and regrets. On her death bed, she told us that she had it all wrong and that we shouldn’t wait, we should go after our dreams NOW. It’s what inspired us to go to school to become nurses. It’s also why we are following our dreams of traveling the world. You see, we don’t generally regret the things we did, but instead, we regret the things we didn’t do.
