Meet Jeff Brunette | Artist + Woodworker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Brunette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeff, please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I like to think that one of the key factors contributing to my success and sets me apart is prioritizing quality over quantity. This approach not only benefits my mental well-being by avoiding a constant churn of projects but also allows me the space to rest and reflect on the creative process, seeking ways to enhance my skills. I will give each art piece the time and care I feel necessary, especially in the world of woodworking, where the process naturally demands attention and patience. It’s not merely a matter of clocking hours; it’s about infusing heart and soul into every creation. This deliberate pace ensures that the finished product is not only personally satisfying but also holds significant value for my clients and their families. Each piece is a testament to both craftsmanship and pride in my work.
My professional journey is ever-evolving, and that unpredictability keeps me excited and on my toes. Initially centered on showcasing the natural colors and beauty of wood, I’ve expanded my horizons. While still rooted in woodwork, I’ve embraced new challenges, working with different materials, and exploring larger-scale projects for public installations, set to come to fruition later this year.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I gotta say, I’m a fan of my stomping ground, Olde Town Arvada. Denver Beer Co. is practically my “Cheers,” and you’ll often spot me and the missus chilling there with our friendly giant, Dutchess the Great Dane. Plus, any trip should plan for catching a show at Red Rocks. And if I’m heading into the city it’s usually for a Rockies game at Coors Field, and hoping for a W!
And, of course, no visit to Colorado is complete without heading into the mountains, preferably for a few nights of camping!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, my wife Macy. When I got laid off in 2020 due to the pandemic, she was supportive of my idea to pursue woodworking with an artistic lens. I used to work for a landscape architecture firm, and the idea of starting my own business was daunting. Macy supported me fully, and she never let me give up, even during tough times. So far, things are working out, and I’m still a full-time artist.
I also want to acknowledge my community, Olde Town Arvada. The majority of my clients and ongoing work have come from art events like Second Saturdays, where I’ve been involved for the past 3-4 years. The strong support for small businesses there has made a significant impact on my career.
