We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Dillon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Ty Dannenbring and I wrote Party in the Front because of our vision for reaching our own neighbors. When my family moved into our neighborhood in northwest Loveland, we found ourselves out in front more often than in the back yard. Our kids were riding bikes, drawing chalk art and climbing trees in our front yard. This led to quickly getting to know many of our neighbors, and led us to having dinner with neighbors and even a popsicle night at the nearby park. The result was a whole new approach to building community where we live. We’ve realized that community is possible and powerful right where we are – and we wanted to share that with others. Ty’s idea for Party in the Front resonated with me, and I jumped in to help him write the book!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In 2015, my wife and I were working with a local non-profit when we got connected with a church plant in Loveland. Redemption Church, located in downtown Loveland, launched that same year, and we got more and more involved as the days rolled on. In 2018, I was invited on to the Pastoral team, and I have served in leadership at the church since then. Pastoral ministry is both a challenge, with the many difficulties that our people face on a regular basis, but also an incredible blessing. We have seen God working in amazing ways in our church and in helping us reach our community. My goal is to help our church be a blessing to our city and our neighbors.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That’s a great question. I’d probably spend a day each in my favorite places in the area. A day enjoying the downtown restaurants and scultupre in Loveland. A day exploring my favorite spots in Fort Collins, maybe breakfast at Silver Grill Cafe or dinner at Beau Jo’s in Old Town. We’d need to spend at least a day or two in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, exploring the unparallelled beauty. A day in Boulder would be memorable, walking along Pearl Street, grabbing lunch at Pasta Jay’s and hiking up the Flatirons. From there I’d take them up the mountains a ways to Dillon/Silverthorne where they could get a taste of the high country. One day in Denver would be great as well, exploring Pearl Street and hitting a Rockies or Avalanche game to top it off.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ty Dannenbring deserves all the credit for the idea behind Party in the Front. He was gracious (or crazy?) enough to invite me in on the project. It’s been incredible working with Ty to write this book and start this movement to reach our neighbors and build community.
