We had the good fortune of connecting with Caren Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caren, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Consistency and continual education. No one is truly an expert. In the Influencer Marketing space, you have to stay on top of trends, listen to what audiences wants to see from you. People often struggle in social media but they need to understand they need to create consisent and valuable content that either entertains, educates, inspires and promotional (if you provide as service). This is what has helped me in growing my community online and land paid social media promotions with global and national brands as a nanoifluencer.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started off my journey in entrepreneurship, by accident, but I have an interesting story. My dad has a business growing up in Southern California, at the time he didn’t speak English. I was often helping him in his job translating documents for him…I was 8!
I would also create marketing materials for his business with our first 1997 IBM computer. I don’t have a degree in Marketing but learned a TON from books, courses and networking, and investing in mentors. I would offer anyone the advice of going into business for yourself to just START! You will figure it out along the way. Trust in yourself and the process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love street food, so I would probably take them somewhere on East Colfax to get some Mexican food, and then work our way down to Voodoo donuts! I would probably give them a tour around the city and some breweries if they were into that, otherwise doing lot of hiking if the weather permits
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give credit to the amazing women and entrepreneurs that I have been able to surround myself with in the online space. But most importantly my father, he is incredible. He is such a hard worker and the most resilient person I know in my life.
