We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Honeycutt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jen, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Most people don’t love having their picture taken so I make it my goal to help everyone feel comfortable in front of my camera. I have learned what poses work well, I get people talking and opening up about themselves, and I have jokes I can say to kids to get them laughing. My greatest compliment has been when dads leave the session and say, “That was actually fun and went by fast!”
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally.
I have always prided myself on trying to stay affordable to the average family. I strive to offer a memorable experience with plenty of digital images at a reasonable cost. Photographs have always meant so much to me so I don’t want cost to hinder a family from being able to get quality images that they can cherish for a lifetime.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado has so many great options! I would definitely take a visitor up to the mountains. Rocky Mountain National Park is iconic and amazing so driving over Trailridge Road would be on the agenda. Next, we would certainly go to some of the many Colorado breweries. Depending on the time of year, we could either go to a summer festival or snowshoeing. Going into the city would be on the list too—-Union Station, 16th Street area, the Capitol building, the zoo. There are so many great spots in and around Denver that it would be hard to narrow down the choices!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so thankful for the support of my husband over the last 8+ years. I have also learned so much from a Facebook group of female photographers called the Denver Photo Betties. They share tips, offer referrals, give feedback, etc. It has been a great asset to be a part of that group and I have met many friends through it.
