We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenna, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a new business owner, my definition of success when I first started out was simply the ability to pay my bills. Now that I’m more comfortably established in my day to day routine, my definition of success continues to be based around monetary gain. However, I’m trying to be more mindful with how I structure my days. Because I have multiple contract jobs, I used to do whatever I needed to do to make what I needed to make, but now I’m trying to “work smarter, not harder.” I am still learning!
What should our readers know about your business?
When I started Grow with the Flow, I only knew I wanted a landing spot for all of my pursuits, but honestly didn’t know what that would look like. I knew I was a nurse, hardworking, loved to be creative, build, make, show compassion and help others. I started with one part time position where the harder I worked, the more money I made. I thought there was something to that equation so I added a second. Then I found my true passion and start with Rocky Mountain IV Medics where I could provide mobile IVs and help people by providing a small service with big results. Additionally, I found the very attributes of this position that matched exactly what I was good at: compassion coupled with hard work punctuated by efficiency. I was all in! But getting to this epiphany was marked by a lot of trial and error. Beyond being a nurse, my hand had to be forced into starting my own business. Painful experiences can be helpful when complacency is commonplace. I never would have “jumped off the deep end” if I hadn’t been pushed!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents, who are both retired entrepreneurs, are definitely my inspiration. When I told my family and friends that I would be starting my own business, their reactions were some variations of “duh!” They all knew that I was destined to be my own boss because of who my parents were as business owners and who they continue to be as mentors
