We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Aragon and Brittany Valdez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer and Brittany, how do you think about risk, what role has taking risks played in your life/career?
Starting a small business 8 months before Covid hit was a huge risk for us. We had no clue covid was about to turn our world upside down, but to our surprise it actually turned out to be a more positive experience. We started to see a connection within our community and around the world. Covid forced us to look deep into our lives and started the inner discussion of what mattered most. It forced us to slow down, to remain still, to just evaluate how important family and our loved ones are. It forced us to evaluate just how important waking up every day truly is. We realized we needed to push forward with self-care for the mind, body and soul. It was a risk we were willing to take. Our goal was to create content of inspiration and positive energy in a time that felt so scary and unknown. We started with only $200 and pushed forward each day writing down ideas, recipes, content, taking photographs and journaling all of our goals and aspirations. We worked during the day at our day jobs and worked every night and on weekends on our small business, Luna Bliss. Each paycheck we devoted our salary to our passion project Luna Bliss. It was a slow process, since we did not come from a business background or a wealthy background by any means. The sweet spot to our story, as well as many other small businesses that succeed, is knowing you did it all yourself. No family business was handed down to us, no trust fund was waiting for us, everything we built was purely authentic and from the ground up. In a sea of entrepreneurs and creative minds it’s hard to imagine you can succeed but we believe if you remain true and authentic to what you are trying to achieve it separates you from the rest.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Luna Bliss all started with two sisters going through their own spiritual transformation of finding inner peace, finding clarity and wanting to tap into their own inner stillness. We started taking meditation classes, reiki classes, doing yoga and signing up for any wellness classes we could get our hands on. Having busy 8-5 jobs as a dental hygienist and a children’s therapist, we started to notice the benefits of self-care on ourselves. It became evident that self-care is so important at any age and in all aspects of the mind, body and soul. With our fast paced society it’s so easy to get lost in the everyday work grind and everyday demands of modern life. As it became more clear to us, we wondered “what if we could reach the right person that needs our help?” We came up with the idea of starting a business that provided self-care products to help one’s own self-care journey. What started as a small idea of creating meditation/reiki sprays began to flourish into more holistic and wellness products to better serve the overall health and well-being of others. We started meeting with our customers and listened to their wants of clean living, using essential oils, plant based products and using holistic ingredients in our self-care body products. We supply products for meditation, yoga, reiki, smudging tools, journaling and more. Now more than ever, self-care is so important in navigating through this crazy journey of life and by evolving, you’ll start to find the simple things in life matter the most. As a small business, we hope to inspire or spark an interest in others wanting to explore their own soul journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The city of Pueblo, Colorado has such great energy and is culturally rich in music, art, recreation, folklore and traditions. Downtown on Union Avenue is surely the place to start. You’ll find unique treasures, lovely baked goods, one of a kind art and delicious signature dishes. Once, you are done exploring the many boutiques Union Avenue has to offer, the Pueblo River Walk is next on the adventure. With a 1.3 mile scenic route of the historic Arkansas River, you can enjoy all the history Pueblo has to offer. Our next stop in Pueblo, Colorado is a hidden gem. Most people don’t realize our Pueblo Reservoir is a premier fishery and boating destination on 5,399 surface acre reservoir. The Pueblo Reservoir is great for paddle boarding, boating, fishing and enjoying the warm sun on some our challenging mountain bike trails. A must for out of towners is The Colorado State Fair every August and The Chile Festival every September. The Colorado State Fair and The Chile Festival is an annual tradition for most Pueblo natives but a treat for out of towners to enjoy turkey legs, funnel cakes and Pueblo’s finest Chile. Come and explore what Pueblo has to offer, you won’t be disappointed.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We are two sisters born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado. The city of Pueblo is also known as the “Home of Heroes” and is rich in culture, food, artisans and deep rooted history. We come from hard working Latino parents that instilled the value of education to succeed in life. As children, we remember our parents working many jobs to provide for our family and as most Latino families we worked with what we had, even if it was very little. Our upbringing helped us gain the skills of a hard work ethic, and the drive to be substantially better off than our parents, grandparents and generations before us. Thanks to the enormous support from our family, friends and community, Luna Bliss has manifested from a dream into reality.
