We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer French and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what do you attribute your success to?
Prioritizing relationship building in my business has been the most important factor behind my success. Anyone can have a good product or service but customers want to see that there is a person behind their brand. Being able to share my story and speak to people as if they were my friends or family really allows trust to build and a relationship to form. This gives meaning to my product and customers are buying from someone whom they feel a personal a connection with.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always had a love for baking but had a love for more of the artistic elements. Sugar cookie decorating allowed me to do both and using the cookie as a canvas allowed endless possibilities to create edible art. I spent 15 years working as an accountant and transitioning out of that industry was difficult because I knew I would not be able to generate the same amount of income with a cookie business. It was a long road to feeling secure in taking the risk and I spent several years creating my own accounting book of business so that I could then sell it. This was ultimately what was going to help me launch my new cookie career. It took a lot of hard work, patience and trust in the process but it set me up to comfortably explore a new career in creative art!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being fairly new to Colorado, I would LOVE to be able to play visitor in my own city! I am still exploring new places but I love most the mountain view, hiking trails, and iconic landmarks. Even more so, it’s the small business, boutique shops, coffee corners, and mom-and-pop restaurants that I love the most.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could not have possibly created the life that I have right now without the work that I have done with my life and business coach Calvin Chen! He was instrumental in helping me navigate the personal and professional struggles over the years and turn my experiences into valuable learning lessons that lead to my current success.
