We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Roe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy? Well…I have to honestly say, life! I am an eternal optimist and tend to find joy in many things. I have discovered that true happiness comes from within. As I go further and further down this path I realize that true joy for me comes from the little things whether that is the beauty I am absorbing on a hike to the epiphany I have during a meditation. It is laughter shared with friends; it is a song that makes me dance; it is the discovery of something I never knew before; it is a smile on my son’s face; of the feeling of a job well done. We live in an incredible universe and there is magic all around us as well as in us.
When I do sessions and open into that magic, powerful things happen. It has been through this journey as an energy healer that I have realized just how amazing things really are. As a healer, nothing brings me more happiness than to witness and assist others helping them to discover their inner joy. For them to find that light inside that brings them power and ultimately the inner freedom which allows them to find their happiness inside. Growth and transformation can be both challenging and rewarding and to watch others go down their path, make shifts, and step into their light brings more happiness than anything!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting for a week in Durango, I would definitely suggest summertime! Durango is the outdoor lover’s paradise, literally. I would plan for us to go on several different hikes. Two of my favorites are Ice Lakes outside of Silverton or Engineer Mountain. Sometimes it is fun just to take a short hike to Spud Lake. We could hit the river and float from Oxbow down to either 32nd or 9th street. Lake Nighthorse is another beautiful place to paddle board. Vallecito Lake is an amazing place to spend a day. Pagosa Hot Springs has always been one of my favorites but, now Durango has upgraded ours and it is awesome! We could jump on bikes and take a ride down the river path to downtown in order to walk around, have a drink, and stop in some shops. As far as restaurants go, it is great to either go to Union House or 11th Street Station as they both have awesome outdoor places to sit, live music, and food trucks. Pop Sushi is another one of my favorites. It is never a bad idea to just host a BBQ in my backyard and hang with some of my closest friends.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This question is really difficult to answer as there have been so many influences that have gotten me to where I am today. I have literally had teachers who helped me to awaken, who guided me to want to learn more, who helped to direct me on my path, and who ultimately helped teach me how to step into who I am here to be. Then, there are other teachers, whether they are aware or not, who assisted me through this journey simply by helping me to learn lessons about myself through my interactions and involvement with them. Some of them supported me, others tested and challenged me, some were instigators for me to go through my hardest times, and others were the catalyst for me to become even stronger and more creative in my endeavors. With that being said, I would like to thank each and every one of them.
