Meet Mundi Ross | Co-Owner, ALMAGRE Venue and Bar

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mundi Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mundi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been in entrepreneurship for six years now. My concepts have coincided with seasons and or needs within my community. My current effort, ALMAGRE Venue and Bar was birthed from a desire to create a beautiful space in the heart of Colorado Springs that brings together community, celebration, and collaboration. In everything I do, I challenge myself to think differently and stretch myself beyond what is expected. The bar’s mission is to welcome you in like family and I believe we do just that. We have created a welcoming environment that encourages your to stick around for a while. Our menu is designed to be shared as we celebrate regions from around the world. Our venue is just as elevated and thoughtful as our bar. We didn’t skip on any of the details. Our hope is the same, that by choosing to celebrate inside our venue you feel welcomed like family and the freedom to create a beautiful experience within our versatile space.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a creative in the entrepreneurship world, they’re skills I am great at and skills in which I am not. I have had to learn along the way how to bring others into the fold to help bring a vision to life. I am so grateful for the incredible teams that have believed in me, my dreams, and the desire to collaborate and be a part of moving Colorado Springs forward. I also know there are seasons of thriving and seasons of quiet. I am currently in a season of quiet. My focus has shifted in part due to Covid on my family, keeping my current business alive, and the creative outlets I can do at home. I have had to learn when and how to acknowledge my own needs as I have a tendency to focus on others first. I can’t thrive creatively if I am not taking care of myself first and foremost. I have fallen in love with making art again. I am taking care of myself physically and with therapy for the first time consistently in six years. I believe that in this season of putting myself first, only good can flow from there. I am still a dreamer but those dreams can wait.

Activity-Enjoy the views from the top of Palmer Park.

Take a hike or pack a picnic for a walk around the Garden of the Gods and finish your time on the west side at Red Leg Brewery. A soak and spa experience at Sunwater Spa in Manitou Springs.

Foodie finds-Breakfast at Adams Mountain Cafe, Make sure to stop by Coati for a food hall fix. Dinner at Lucky Dumpling or Ambli.

Shopping-Yobel is my number one pick. They are for slow fashion and ethical finds. Another pick would be Eccelectic Co. for a variety of local artisans in one shop.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people in my corner cheering me on but the two that stand out above the rest are my business partner, Grace Harrison, and my husband Casey Ross. I am so grateful for Casey who has said yes to all my crazy ideas. I am a natural-born risk taker but to have a partner who is supportive of my efforts and stands by me is everything. My business partner, Grace Harrison is another shoutout I want to give. ALMAGRE Venue and Bar couldn’t be what it is without her. I am the creative soul behind the brand and she is the brains. She keeps me in check and holds me accountable that as a visionary, I need.
