We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Stienike and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my non-profit is our commitment to our volunteers and the cause. I try to lead by example and I value the input of those around me that help make Mile High Canine Rescue, Inc. what it is today. Each volunteer feels heard and valued and this helps everyone feel like they have skin in the game. 

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m the co-founder of Mile High Canine Rescue, Inc. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to help dogs in need. We are 100% volunteer run. It is our mission to not only help displaced pets, but to help the root of the problem by sponsoring spay & neuter clinics in underserved communities. What sets our rescue apart from others is our commitment to the dogs in our care. We have an amazing volunteer network that provides foster homes for not only the average dog in need, but those in need of extensive medical or behavioral help. Our support doesn’t stop at adoption. We are here for our adopters to assist with training issues or whatever arises.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit, we’d likely be found on the back patio of my home with a few adult beverages. However, if we were being forced to actually go somewhere we’d likely hit the mountains for some hiking or head to the beach for some relaxing. We’d eat mexican food and drink margaritas and you’d find us by the ocean.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, both as a child and as an adult. My parents were both very set on raising an independent woman that was capable, strong-willed, responsible, and independent. They supported me in every idea from the time I was little and provided me with the resources to get my college education. My husband and my kids have provided unconditional support of my dreams and embraced the impacts they have on our family. My husband is ALWAYS by my side helping me make my dreams come to fruition.
