We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Rowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy, what inspires you?
I am inspired by the little things in life, the beauty in the mundane, day to day, and the magic of relationships.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I suppose what sets me apart the most, is that I have a heavy emphasis on writing songs for folks in the off road community, particularly Jeepers, which sort of happened by accident. I had been writing country music for a little while, but then decided I should see if there were any songs out there for this tribe that I was beginning to find a sense of belonging in, with shared passion for the outdoors and off roading. My career definitely took off with the release of JEEP THANG, and Jeep Girl, the Jeep community was supporting me like no other, streaming the songs, begging venues/events to book me and my band to come play for them, and while it has slowed a bit, its been and incredible ride. We’ve got to travel to states, and play shows we never thought we’d be in or play at.
We have learned a lot along the way, about being authentic, about the music business in general, how to charge, the woes of the road, being away from family, and what we really want in life.
We want the world to know that we’re just ordinary people (the band and I), most of us are family men, who just desire to spend time with family, and make music, which is our escape, fun, and passion. Though it may never turn into a reality that we can all pay our bills from, we’d do it anyway!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to some of our parks in and around OKC, we have some really nice ones.
We’d definitely go to a lake or two and swim, go boating, grill out, etc.
I would take them to the best BBQ spot I know of, The Butcher Stand, in Wellston, OK.
I would take take them to some of my favorite local music spots to listen to some great artists I’ve become friends with.
I would show them what my awesome neighbors and I do almost weekly together, just hang in one of our garages, game on the TV, with a fired up Blackstone or Pit Boss smoker, make some burgers, ribs, or pork chops, and converse, play with all the kids from our combined homes, and enjoy the fresh air!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents who have come to shows, told numerous folks about me and my music, donated time and money toward the cause, my oldest brother, Jon who has supported me on the road with sound/lighting, finances, and being a sounding board for my ideas and direction. My band who are awesome musicians, but even better souls, who always do so much for often too little. Most of all, the Jeep community, who have supported me ever since hearing “JEEP THANG” and subsequently, “Jeep Girl”, “Off-Road Family”, and “Send it”, they are the real MVPs because without them loving the tunes, I’d be nowhere near as “successful” and blessed as I’ve been.
