We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Diehl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenny, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business idea stems from searching out the cleanest products for home, bath, body and oral care. In 2007, my mom passed away from Early Onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 59. Years later, I couldn’t think of anything else — I needed to know how and why this happened to her. So that set me on a journey that led me into the field of Holistic Medicine. I learned that everyday toxins and chemicals in our food supply, in our air, and in the products we put into our body are tainted with toxic chemicals that can cause many health issues. I learned that Alzheimer’s is directly linked to aluminum in the brain, and looking back, I could see that aluminum toxicity in my mom’s life. Her suffering and death ultimately led me to change everything in my life — from the food that I eat (I changed to an all organic, plant based way of eating), to what I put ON my largest organ (my skin), to the thoughts that I think (thoughts really do become things!). I couldn’t find anything that met my high standards, so I started creating my own products. I never thought I’d start a business, I was just making the products for myself and my family. However, after many years of developing products for just about everything we use, I decided to launch this business to the world in 2018.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m just a girl who wants to live her longest and healthiest life. I have a goal of living far beyond 100 years, and I plan to live my life without being chronically ill, sick, or in pain. I’m a daughter who saw her mom suffer and be taken from her at too early of an age, and this changed the trajectory of my life. It made me want to look at everything that affects health, and how I could live a long and healthy life. I want to empower others to do the same — your health is in your hands, no one else. I’m a mom who wants my kids to grow up choosing the best for themselves — whether that’s the food the eat, what they put on their bodies, and what they put into their minds. I want to teach them that they are in control of these decisions, and not to just do what the the “norm” is. I am a wife who wants to take care of my husband to the best of my ability, so that he can also live a long and healthy life with me! I am not your typical professional or business owner. I am just a girl who wanted to make the cleanest products for myself and my family. That is still my first priority. I then share those products with others, and I am humbled to be able to do this.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is easy because I live in the best and most beautiful place — Durango, Colorado! I get to live where a lot of people vacation and I feel very fortunate for that. One of my favorite things to do is to hike, and there is no shortage of that in and around Durango. The trip itinerary for my friend would involve many hikes, especially high up in the mountains. Many of my favorite hikes are up Hwy 550 between Durango and Silverton, north of Silverton to Ouray and around Ouray. One of my favorite things to do is drive “the loop”, which includes going on the Million Dollar Highway. We would visit Silverton, Ouray, Ridway, Telluride, Rico, Delores, Mancos and back to Durango. Because I am very picky about what I eat, I mostly make my own food, and use as many of my fruits and vegetables from my own 4 season dome greenhouse from Growing Spaces (based in Pagosa Springs). My all time favorite restaurant in Durango is Basecamp, which is a 100% plant based restaurant. We would be drinking their tea selection (they use our medicinal herbal teas!). One last thing, we would visit the hot springs and take the train up to Silverton. I would have my friend visit in the Fall as that is my favorite season and the fall color around Durango and the Four Corners is unparralled.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, the greatest influence in me starting my business is my mom. Without her suffering and death, I don’t know that I would’ve questioned things in my life and how I could live a healthier life. She is my angel. My grandpa (who has also passed) was a huge inspiration to me as he lived everyday of his life with love and joy. Even after losing his wife and 3 children, he chose to live life to the fullest while he was here. He had a huge impact on my life and his fingerprints are all over Cura.Te.

Beyond that, my husband and my two children have been the biggest support for me. From trying all of my creations over the years, to being at my right hand throughout developing my business, I couldn’t have done any of this without them. To this day, they help me decorate packages, try new creations, use all of my products daily, and are my biggest cheerleaders.
