Meet Jess Cowden | Weddings & Events Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Cowden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jess, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am a Colorado Native! I moved to South Florida for the majority of my twenties, where I was introduced to the event industry! From a makeup artist, to a catering coordinator, to a yacht party coordinator. South Florida was definitely a different world, with lots of glam! I moved back to Colorado in 2018 and got certified as a wedding and events planner. After interning with other planning and floral/ design companies, I launched my business in 2020! I am literally half mountain girl/ half beach bum. I have traveled the world, met amazing people, and learned so much about other cultures and personalities. I am always up for an adventure and ready to take on any task that comes my way!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I got to where I am today by all of the support that I mentioned previously, as well as, self-discipline and motivation. I have given the wedding and event industry my all. There were definitely challenges. I think the biggest challenge as a business owner is finding balance. Balancing work with personal life is so important. You need to make time for you and things that you enjoy. I have learned so many humbling lessons.
1.) You can learn from everyone and every event you do.
2.) Take chances, if you fail the first time, try again, and again, and again. “A winner is just a lower who tried one more time.” George Augustus Moore.
3.) Believe in your power, you can make magic.
4.) Don’t be afraid to ask for help, or ask questions.
5.) Forgive yourself, you are human, just keep learning and improving.
If I had to choose something that I want the world to know about my brand and story, it would be that I started this company from nothing. I gave it my all, I never stopped believing, I never stopped going. I care about people, and I love creating memorable moments.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I am biased and love Aspen/ Snowmass. I would say fly into Aspen in late September, (or drive and stop at the Glenwood Hot Springs), stay at the historic Hotel Jerome, hike through Marroon Bells, stop in at Kemosabe for a custom hat or other Western gear, ride the Silver Queen Gondola, and then have dinner at Mi Chola, that also turns into a night club! The fall leaves in Aspen & Snowmass are something everyone should see!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many! It takes a tribe, and I have the best. My girl squad of friends from as early as kindergarten to my fellow event vendors that I have become very close with. I have a circle of strong, hardworking, bossbabes that always keep me strong and motivated. My amazing husband is so supportive and always jumps in when I need assistance. My kiddos and family as a whole, and also cannot forget to mention my furry babies (Capone & Parker), that are always there with their unconditional love.
