Jessica, always such a pleasure connecting with you and thank you for sharing your stories, insights and inspiring messages with our community. We’re looking forward to getting the download and what you have been up to since our last interview, but first can you briefly introduce yourself to folks who might have missed the prior conversation.
Hello My name is Jessica, I own and operate Kekis Kekis. I am a cottage bakery which means I operate solely from my residential kitchen. At Kekis Kekis we specialize in celebration cakes and hand crafted sugar cookies for any occasion. My focus is on artisanal quality and personalized treats that bring a homemade feel and warmth to my community.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Ive operated Kekis Kekis for 4 years now. Last year in 2024 was probably my busiest year yet. It feels good to know people trust me to make their occasions as special as they should be. I feel that when I stared Kekis Kekis I did it as a means to make money as I had lost my job due to COVID as many people did. I actually didn’t think I would do it for this long but I just fell in love with this artistry. I’m always coming up with new ideas for sales. Some come to fruition some don’t. I dabbled in selling my home baked goods at farmer’s market last year, and even tho I only did one I really liked it. I’m looking forward to do more of those in the new year.
My only challenges have to be the fact that only operate my small business as a part time business because I have a full time job. But I love making cakes and cookies and don’t see myself stoping anytime soon.

What would the perfect day look like for you? Please give us as many details as possible.
My perfect day as a small business owner starts off with a nice cup of coffee while I make a todo list for my day. Once the to-do list is done I double check my calendar and make sure I have everything on there that has been scheduled. I have had nightmares where someone knocks on my door for their cake and I don’t have it for them, so I double check always! After that, making sure I have all recipe’s and all the ingredients at hand. I’m really good at not keeping inventory LOL. Then once all the cakes are baked and the cookies are cut. We move on to frosting and mixing different colors. Have you ever had to mix frosting colors? No, well it’s the most tedious task but it lets me know I’m almost at the best part of the day! Decorating of course!! I like to put on a movie or audiobook while I decorate and I usually have a plan for cookie set or cake that way I can just get to work. While I work on my orders my very nice helper, usually my husband or 13 year old son helps me clean the kitchen. That way when I’m done decorating I can close up shop and finish my movie on the couch.
