We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Stoffel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
One of the most important lessons my business has taught me is how important it is to look at the glass as half full. The power of positivity! When something doesn’t work out, whether it be a new business venture, a project, a brainstorm come to life…another door will open. It may not be what we pictured at the start, but it will happen in ways that were maybe even better than the initial idea. Hard work pays off, so I try to never stop dreaming. I am dreaming of new things for Denver Event Staffing all the time. Secondly, and definitely ranked just as high, is to always take care of your staff. Stay humble and never lose faith.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m proud of how far I’ve come as a business professional. I do not have an undergraduate degree, and instead, I worked from the bottom up. I found my stride in sales and with a passionate work ethic, worked my way up to where I am today. I’m the proud owner and CEO of Denver Event Staffing and I have the privilege of developing our business through strong relationships with our clients. I handle sales, client retention, employee retention, operations and international business. I built the hospitality clientele at DES and after a year came on full-time becoming 51% owner of the business. My career is driven through self-motivation and my experience as a mother. I am a proud mom to 5 kids and as a working mom, I have the unique opportunity to multitask and manage both our home and our business. My family is my biggest drive and support. They enable me to dream bigger and never give up.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is such a great question! I love Denver and can’t recommend it and the surrounding cities enough. I would make sure the tour started with breakfast at Snooze. It’s worth the wait and I can’t speak highly enough about the fun atmosphere they’ve created within their restaurants as well as the food! Brunch is always a priority. If you’re in the mood for tacos, lunch at Patzcuaros is a must, followed by a sporting event. Denver Event Staffing works with all of the major stadiums and I have to tell you, Denver fans are some of the best. Dinner and drinks during the week would have to be at Happy Camper. They are a newer spot and have such a cool set up!
Throughout the week, I would recommend a trip to Golden. Main street is beautiful. And hiking up there is also wonderful. In the same way, day trips to Estes Park and would recommend taking the trail ridge road to get there. Lunch in town and shopping. And can’t miss their restaurants for a night on the town.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my other half, in business and in marriage, my husband, Shawn Stoffel. Shawn has always supported my dreams no matter how big they are. I would also like to shout out 5280 Staffing Solution. They gave us our first start and opened the door to the opportunity to start Denver Event Staffing. We are forever grateful for the opportunity they provided our team. Erin Hartman from Hot Shot Supply also deserves a grand shout out. Our sons are on the same football team. She is so much more than a mom friend, she is a constant inspiration and support. She is on the committee for woman-owned businesses and never fails to share her wisdom. She reminds me to take a deep breath and dream big. I also value that her and her husband own their business as well. We walk many of the same struggles and successes.
