Meet Jessica Worster | Makeup Artist & Esthetician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Worster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue an artistic career because it allowed me to combine my passion for creativity with my love for helping women feel beautiful and confident. As a mother, I also wanted a career that offered flexibility, so I could balance my work life with my family life. Being in the beauty industry gives me the freedom to create while also being present for my children and spouse, which is incredibly important to me. It’s the perfect blend of artistry, connection and flexibility.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey as a makeup artist isn’t just about beauty; it’s a ministry. I believe what sets me apart from everyone else and how I got to where I am today is that this is my passion and purpose. I have prayed over my business and my clients. Each day I wake up with an opportunity to be a light for other people. In addition to my years of dedication, continuous learning and hands on experience, I have been able to build a career that showcases my artistic skills but also provides a meaningful service to women. I have built a strong reputation on being a good listener, being kind, understanding and loving what I do. The fact that I get to share in some of the most intimate moments of someone else’s life is never lost on me.
There have been many bumps in the road along the way to get where I am professionally. Lots of growth and being able to pivot when things don’t go how you expect them to. Truly learning how to balance work and family life and identifying what success looks like to me. In the beginning I was chasing a dollar amount and now I know that doesn’t fulfill me the way my relationship with my clients fulfills me. I went from working every possible weekend I could to putting myself and my family first. It definitely isn’t always easy. But like most self employed entrepreneurs there’s this spark inside of you that tells you to keep going. Building a community of like-minded professionals and leaning heavily on others in the industry for ideas or to discuss challenges is really helpful. I constantly stay inspired by my fellow business owner friends that show up daily in their businesses.
As for what I would want the world to know about me, my brand and my story is that I couldn’t do this without every client, friend, vendor and family member that has mentioned my name to someone looking for makeup or skincare services. Lastly, I want everyone to know that when you align your heart with God’s will, He will place you exactly where you need to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them on a small hike through Garden of the Gods and grab a few pictures of the scenic views. If they’re up for a drive we’d do a day trip to Breckenridge or Estes Park, two of my favorite places to visit. One day would be a family fun day at the penny arcades in Manitou and then a stop for my favorite Italian place downtown, Paravicini’s. We’d be super full from dinner but if we had room for ice cream then a quick drive over to at a local ice cream shop like Rizuto’s. If they were up for adventure and the weather is nice then a rafting day followed by a soak in the hot springs. And for a more chill day and to wrap up the trip we would start with coffee at Loyal Coffee in downtown Colorado Springs, then walk around Old Colorado City and do a little shopping to support the locally owned stores and pick up a souvenir.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest fans and supporter are definitely my family. My husband and mother in law really made working and going back to school seamless when I knew I was looking to switch careers. The thought of starting over after already going to college and working in the corporate world felt scary and uncertain. Relying on myself to make an income that would provide for my family provided some stress and initially I was worried I wouldn’t succeed. But I felt this immense pull to move forward and took a huge leap of faith. I feel like many of my friends that I had discussed my move with were very supportive and each one gave me a little token of knowledge that made me feel more secure in my decision to go out on my own. Having a good circle around you is so important and I’m very blessed with mine.
