We had the good fortune of connecting with Jinelle Sammartino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jinelle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Honestly, as I have gotten older I have definitely taken more risks in my world than I did when I was younger. I find as life happens and moments pass, I truly worry less and I just WONDER more. I wonder, “What IF it all works out and EVEN BETTER than I am thinking,” instead of my previous mindset when taking a risk, I was full of worry and fear of failure. I have recognized there is no failure, even if it feels uncomfortable or doesn’t turn out how you expected or wanted, you are always going to learn something, grow from the experience then adapt and adjust as you feel BEST for YOU for the next moment and just ride the wave.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been creative and an artist at heart, but I think like a lot of humans, I got lost along the way in life and I am recently coming back to myself and my joys, including my art. Over the last few years I’ve explored new mediums including acrylic paints and even diving into poetry to activate my throat chakra. Last year I was actually in California exploring the opportunity of a tattoo apprenticeship, rediscovering my love and hidden talent for drawing, but had to make some tough decisions to leave California and head home to Massachusetts. While driving across the country visiting humans I love along the way in Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, I landed in Colorado, thinking I would only be here for a week before heading home. Now it’s been 6 months of mountain magic and rediscovering my inspiration and myself. I am finding a feel good flow with my art again in a new state, new space, new season and as a new human healing from the inside out. My art allows me to express my love for the magic of Mother Nature painting bold, bright one of a kind images of trees, mountains and moons while using colors, crystals and patterns connected to your chakras and energy within your body. As I find my feel good flow with my journey and art over the last few years I think the most challenging thing is just continuing to show up and share my shine and art with the world, even in times of darkness, discomfort or change. It’s extremely easy to dim your light, your creativity and let that inspiration fade when the world around you is dark, but it’s important even in times of darkness to keep showing up, personally and professionally, for yourself and the world. You are your lifetime of proof even in those dark moments, you always figure it out and if you can be that example for someone else, you need to share it. Life is all just moments, like the waves and you need to just ride them because they will all pass and the next set of waves comes rollin on in for you to experience, enjoy and make more moments of magic.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, since I am fairly new to Colorado, being from Massachusetts, my list of exploring is quite long, so it would definitely be an adventure for both of us. I live in Aurora currently so I have had a lot of fun exploring the Denver area. One of my FAVORITE spots thus far is RiNo Art District. The amount of breath taking art all over the neighborhood makes my heart SO happy. And the wild part is, you can never see it all, every corner you turn there is something beautiful to explore with your eyeballs whether it be painted on the side of a building or the sidewalk..art is literally everywhere in RiNo! Plus, there are a few indoor markets in the area including Milk Street Market that have some wicked yummy foodie spots to check out and I am ALL about the food. I have definitely enjoyed every trip to Denver Biscuit Company in the Stanley Marketplace, which is also so much fun to explore for food and a great spot to catch sunset and walk. I’d love to hit one of the natural hot springs outside of the city area, head more towards the mountains like Vail or Steamboat. I am from Cape Cod in Massachusetts, a wicked beach baby and I LOVE the ocean, so the magic of the Colorado mountains never ceases to amaze me. I’ve actually never lived landlocked before and honestly can’t think about it too long, so any way I can connect to the water, I am ALL for! So I would definitely find a hot springs adventure for us, enjoy some hiking in the mountains and explore more yummy local foods. Red Rocks is always a magical space to see too, so I would stop there for sure or even Garden of the Gods…like I said, the list is long and every season, even daily, is also SO different with weather to decide what you are going to do!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am wicked grateful and appreciative of all of the humans, my family, friends and supporters, who have seen my shine, even in my moments of light and darkness, and continue to fuel my fire to just be me…JOYFULLY JINELLE. Thank you.
