We had the good fortune of connecting with JJ Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi JJ, what’s your definition for success?
Success to me is finding the right ratios in life. Feeling in balance between relationships, free time, work, health, fun and rest is so important. If you can make a happy living from what you do and also make that work in all areas of your life, you have found success.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our small restaurant inside of Angry James Brewery in Silverthorne has been serving a mix of elevated bar food and healthy options for almost four years now. We are definitely something unexpected but still able to keep everyone happy. We have loved our time serving the community of Summit County but we are soon starting a new adventure. We will be moving our lives to Nicaragua in May. We will be starting a new food journey by taking over a restaurant there and transitioning into a juice and smoothie bar focused on healthy menu items for breakfast and lunch and a tiki bar atmosphere and small plates at night, and also producing homemade craft ice cream. The opportunity presented itself to us on our travels to Nicaragua this past November. It wasn’t in our plans but the universe had a different plan and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m Silverthorne Colorado there are definitely some must do’s. Depending on the time of year here the itinerary will look a little different. In the winter some sort of snow activity is a must, skiing, snowboarding at a resort or for a more chill experience, snowshoeing and cross country skiing, and tubing is another fun snow activity. In the summer, hiking and mountain biking are my favorite ways to get outside, followed up by a trip to the Dillon tiki bar and maybe a show at the Dillon amphitheater. Anytime of year a drive over Swam Mountain Road or Ute Pass is great for views and photos.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Shane Morris deserves a giant shout out. Besides being my partner in life and our restaurant business, he has always been my encouragement, my happy place, my support and my best lifeline. He has always listened to my crazy ideas and been there pushing me forward. He has worked with me elbow to elbow in everything I’ve done and I can’t thank him enough.
