Meet Joanna Resnick | Acupuncturist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joanna Resnick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joanna, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Being an acupuncturist and energy worker has taught me so many beautiful lessons. The most important lesson has been to maintain healthy boundaries as an entrepreneur and service provider.
Time and energy is as important and valuable as money. If you are giving too much and not being respected or having healthy boundaries, it interferes with your business. You will not have as much to give if you’re never receiving or refilling your own energy.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been an acupuncturist and entrepreneur for 17 amazing years. I provide a space for people to come and help them heal themselves. I work with many kinds of people, but I love working with those who would like a nervous system balancing and who are learning to trust their intuition.
My acupuncture sessions can include cupping, reiki, and body talk. I infuse what ever is needed in each treatment.
I am so honored to be able to offer this unique fusion of modalities.
I started my practice going to people’s homes to give treatments until I grew into renting a room. Then renting one room turned into renting two rooms. Now I am partnered with two other amazing women and we have created a wellness center. I feel the key to my success has been getting out and creating community.
I am honored to have such an amazing community around me that are so supportive and wonderful. They are truly what make a small business possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The ultimate Denver trip in my opinion would include a walk around Sloan’s lake, Wash Park, City Park, or a hike in Golden.
Meals at my favorite Denver restaurants
Vital Root, Snooze, Jelly, Flower Child or True Foods.
Catching a Red rocks show or seeing a play, concert or comedian at the Denver Arts complex

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother has been a huge inspiration and started my love for holistic medicine. She modeled how important food and diet were to help illness. I witnessed her help my brother when there weren’t any western options available. She was also an entrepreneur so I was shown how to build and maintain a business my entire life. I am very grateful for her.
