We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Colomb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had already played drums in a million bands. So I wanted to play guitar and sing in a band; and play my own songs. Plus my old buddy from elementary school needs a band to produce and play drums for. So it made sense.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always wanted to be able to make a living by playing music. The end goal itself has always been to just play music. It is more of a systematic approach rather than a goal-based approach. There are always doubts about taking a business approach to an artistic lifestyle which makes this very difficult. But I overcome it by focusing on the joy I get from playing music with my best friend, Dillon. The biggest lesson I have learned is, that since this band came together organically when I least expected it and showed major growth with minimal effort, you have to keep things fun and stop thinking sometimes. There’s a reason they call it ‘playing’ music and not ‘working’ music. Overthinking and caring too much can really kill any buzz.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in the city are Alfred and the Teddinators show. Those are always good times because people are super blown away at what we do as a two-piece southern desert rock band. If we don’t have a show, then golfing with some of Alfred and the Teddinators’ own custom golf balls is peak living to me. Golf is one of my favorite games and past times as well as my drummer and producer Dillon. After some golf, I’ll be at Country Thai in Thornton, which is literally the best Thai in the whole metropolis or I’ll be smoking meats and bbq’ing in my backyard for friends. I love cooking and getting people together. Music, golf, and grilling. That’s all I can offer to anyone visiting. There are tons to do in and around Denver like hiking or camping. But if Alfred and the Teddinators has a show, anyone’s a fool to miss it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Nobody deserves recognition for my story and all the work we’ve done. But, I thank my daughter, Teddi Colomb, for inspiring the name Alfred and The Teddinators.
