We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Dohr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing I think alot of outisders and fans of the music indsutry are unaware of is the fact that this buisness is 90% buisness 10% talent. It’s all about how you market yourself. You can be the best artist and make the best music but whats the point if you dont know how to pus hit or move it

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So I am a hip-hop and R&B artist, but I prefer the term just artist because I like to stay very versatile with my craft. When I go onto the studio, I usually have nothing prepared nothing written so if that day I feel like making a country song I’ll make a country song if one day I feel like making a heartbreak song I’ll make a heartbreak song all depends on the mood. I’m in I guess what’s going on around me in my life. Some of the accomplishments, I am most proud of throughout my time being an artist is performing at festivals all throughout the country, selling out, local hip-hop shows having an album release party, one of the biggest struggles and challenges that I have faced through being an artist is finding legitimate marketers, finding the right way and how to push your music to the right people so one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is being very careful who you trust in this business. One thing I’d like to tell The World about my brain is just keep going and don’t let anything or anybody stop you were try and get in the way of your goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If someone was visiting my city for a weeklong, the first place, I have them check out would be the cocktail reservoir because you get the whole view of Rochester New York, just from the top of the hill. The first thing I would have them eat is a Rochester famous play call the garbage plate. We have celebrities come from all around the world just to come and try the plate so that’s always a number one on my list. Some of the most exciting things to check out definitely strong national museum of play although it sounds like it’s for kids there’s a lot for adults to do there and check out as well. Rochester also has the house and guitars which a lot of legendary guitarist have come there and visited. If you’re looking for a good time to grab a drink, I’d say anywhere on Park Avenue. It’s a very pop and spa with a lot of great places to eat. Lotta good vibes local people.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I’d like to shout out my best friend Ryan, for being a true genuine supporter since the day I decided I wanted to make music. He has sacrifices on time, energy, and money to help me get placed in positions in opportunities that I would not have gotten without him. I’d also like to shut up my friend Jason, for also being a genuine supporter since day one I don’t know where I would be without him as well, and I also like the shout out my mom for supporting my dreams as well since the day, I decided that this is what I wanna do.
