We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynn Doan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lynn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We started our own business because we saw a need for change in how dental care was being done. We noticed that people often dreaded going to the dentist, and this stuck with us after working in other practices. This inspired us to create a dental office that would change people’s perception of dental care, where patients could feel comfortable and well-cared for.

What made us even more excited was the idea of doing something unique in the field. We wanted to give patients a fresh and unexpected experience, something different from the usual dental visit. This led to the concept of the hidden speakeasy and dry bar, a fun and unique way to make dental visits enjoyable.

Our passion for dentistry and the drive to create a new kind of dental experience motivated us to start this journey. We truly believed in our vision, and that’s what led us to create The Dental Bar – a place that offers an exceptional and distinctive dental experience.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Dental Bar is not your typical dental practice. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to transforming the dental experience. We’ve created an environment that’s far from the traditional clinical setting. Our focus is on patient comfort, well-being, and innovation.

As soon as patients step inside, they’re welcomed into a relaxing atmosphere with modern designs that break away from the usual dental office look. After check-in, they’ll discover a secret bookcase door that leads to a delightful surprise – a variety of complimentary beverages, including coffee, seltzers, sodas, non-alcoholic champagne, wine, and even non-alcoholic spirits, all offered on the house.

Before we begin any treatment, patients can personalize their experience further. They can choose from a comfort menu that includes options like weighted blankets and even select their favorite show to watch on ceiling-mounted TVs. We’ve also invested in the advanced technology like digital scanners and AI technology making sure your dental visits are both enjoyable and thorough.

What we’re most proud of is the impact we’ve had on changing people’s perceptions of dental care. The smiles we see from patients who were once apprehensive about dental visits speak volumes. That’s what gets us excited every day – knowing we’re making a difference in their lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As big foodies and cocktail enthusiasts, our perfect itinerary would kick off with a morning Dim Sum feast at Superstar. We’d then soak up some sun and engage in activities like tennis or golf at a nearby park. To quench our thirst, we’d hit up a local brewery like Dry Dock or Bent Barley for some refreshing drinks. For dinner, we’d indulge at one of our favorite food spots: Soeul Korean BBQ or New Saigon Restaurant. And to cap off the night on a sophisticated note, we’d venture to a speakeasy like William & Graham or Cooper Lounge for some top-notch cocktails.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a couple of key individuals who deserve a big shoutout for their unwavering support and contributions to our journey. First and foremost, our families have been our rock. From the years of dental school right up to the realization of our dream, their support has been invaluable. They believed in us, cheered us on, and provided the strength we needed to push forward.

Additionally, our startup coach, Emily Lingo, played a pivotal role. She expertly guided us through the intricate steps of starting up, offering insights and knowledge that proved indispensable. Her mentorship made a significant impact on our success.

So, to our families and Emily, you’re the ones who truly deserve credit and recognition in our story. Your belief in us and your guidance have been the foundation upon which we’ve built The Dental Bar.
