We had the good fortune of connecting with John Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, what inspires you?
Everything negative! People have always told me I wasn’t going to be where I am today and I have far exceeded their doubts

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love what I do! I have always wanted to be an actor since I was young, but got serious when I was in my late 20’s. It was really difficult at first because my ex wife who I call my practice wife, wasn’t supportive and never wanted me to go to auditions. It was until I met my current wife that I got to really get into auditions and start taking classes. Going to classes and auditions is challenging especially with two small children while working a full-time job as a Police Officer. Nothing in life is easy if it was everybody would be doing it. With prayer the support of my wife and the dedication I have to the craft I stay determined to be the best Actor I can be. I’ve also learned that being an artist isn’t always about winning, your going to fail a lot in this field and you have to take every failure as a lesson to be better next time. Another inspiration I’ve learned is failure doesn’t exist. If you fail one day you learn from it and try again the next day and so on. You only fail when you Quit. I want the world to know that I’m here ready and willing to learn to be one of the best actors of our generation. You may not have heard of me yet, but you will!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Look out Mountain as its such a beautiful view of so many cities especially at night! I would definitely have to take them to a Nuggets game, Broncos game and go to Market Street to see various vendors and night life. I would also go to Rodizio grill because I like to eat lol!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all I would like to thank GOD without him I am nothing! I would like to give credit to the late John Carter III, my father for always telling if I have a dream to go get it…. period! I want to recognize my mother for always being in my corner all my life through the ups and downs giving me encouragement to keep going. Last but certainly not least my wife Shayla for always loving me no matter my flaws, sticking by my side supporting what I do and taking care of our children while I go to auditions/sets. Also for encouraging me to keep going
