We had the good fortune of connecting with John Kadlic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
On a personal level, I think it is important to take a genuine interest in people and to know what is important to them. Most of my success in business can be greatly attributed to having high quality relationships with a wide range of people that have helped me along my journey, made connections to other great people or have been a sounding board for me when I need it. For our brand at Parallel Path, the number one factor for our success has been having a clear focus and vision. We help ambitious health, wellness and lifestyle brands grow faster through the power of digital-first marketing. Knowing who we are and where we excel gives us great clarity to make smart decisions to help our team, our business and our clients and also know when to say no to something that doesn’t advance our ambitions.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m in the midst of my so-called second act. After a long run in large privately and publicly-held marketing agencies and consultancies, I took a new path where my passions for an active, outdoor-inspired lifestyle and a deep desire to run my own marketing agency came together. In late 2018, I took the helm of Parallel Path, a Boulder-based digital marketing agency, where I’ve been able to go back to my independent agency roots, work with an incredible team and help brands in the health, wellness and lifestyle industries grow and prosper. Over my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many noteworthy brands like P&G, Nestle, Nike, Coca-Cola, Victoria’s Secret and more, but it wasn’t enough. My calling now is more about working with ambitious brands that have significant growth aspirations, but may not have all of the tools and expertise to truly succeed. In this new chapter, I’m applying what I’ve experienced with larger brands to make it easy for aspiring brands to reach their goals beyond what they could ever achieve through more traditional marketing approaches. I also wanted to pivot to a more performance-minded agency where driving tangible results day-in and day-out really matters. Marketers have to produce and so do their agencies. Parallel Path’s origin is in search marketing and, as such, has always embraced the numbers side of a business challenge. While we do way more than search marketing today, it’s great to be at an agency that was “born to perform” and feels a responsibility to generate a positive return on its efforts. I’m invigorated by this new opportunity and am equally enjoying my new surroundings in Colorado. There’s nothing better than watching the sun rise over Boulder from the top of Mount Sanitas to start your day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So much to do, so little time when you are in Boulder! For coffee, I love Boxcar Coffee Roasters, Ozo or Spruce. For breakfast, I’d recommend the famous Dushanbe Tea House, Lucille’s, Snooze or the Chautauqua Dining Hall. For lunch or dinner, there are endless great choices. Right now I’m enjoying Oak, the new Avanti, Next Door, Rincon Argentino, and Blackbelly among others. From an activity standpoint, I always love hiking. There are so many great options around Boulder and surrounding areas like Rocky Mountain National Park or Eldorado Canyon State Park. Get a breakfast burrito at Santos when done! While many are closed right now, I love seeing live music at E-Town Hall in Boulder or heading down to Red Rocks. And, you can’t overlook the great skiing, whether at Eldora relatively nearby or heading out I-70. The 300 days of sunshine really makes a difference so there’s never a bad time to visit. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe everything to my family. Not only are they my biggest supporters, they keep me focused on what’s most important at all times – and that’s them!
