We had the good fortune of connecting with John Seay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The overall time and dedication given. It’s more than just coming up with different cuts, designs and logos; it’s about the appeal that those pieces will generate in and out of the gym. Having a manufacturer and distributor to mass produce has been great but my earlier designs and concepts, I was slinging with a single tee shirt press and pressing my own vinyl. Those early beginnings have kept me humble as I still package and do the shipping.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SF Lifestyle and Performance athletic apparel is a veteran owned company that started in 2018. From humble beginnings penning clothing designs on a sketch pad and pressing apparel on a single tee shirt press to creating a line for Hannah Ferrier from Bravo TV’s Below Deck Mediterranean, booths at the Ronnie Coleman Classic and sponsorship at the Lackland Bodybuilding Classic; to giving back a portion of sales to the Autism Rainbow of Hope Texas Foundation, SF has been almost everywhere in a short amount of time. The journey hasn’t been easy as there have been setbacks and financial risks that sometimes equated to losses but that hasn’t slowed the SF train. We are always looking for brand ambassadors, models and athletes within the Colorado market looking to break in to the fitness industry and make their mark with SF.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First at foremost, it would be a gym day everyday that they are here. My buddy Maurice McKay, CEO of Zeus Supplements was here for a visit just last week. Our itinerary was pretty simple, heavy lifts at the gym, night prior Lazy Dog restaurant for 4 hours with a group of friends and maybe some drinks, good food with good friends. After out lift a little breakfast at First Watch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
SF Lifestyle and Performance wouldn’t be where it is today and continue that forward momentum without the amazing people that grind day in and day out. My support system has always been my family that continues to push me towards my dreams and goals; Pops (Kenny), Kimberly, Coach Jay, Kait, Peyton, Tillie Bear and Doze, these folks have stood by me from the inception. My SF FAM, Steve Cooley, Mark, Drake, Cole & Mendy, Jake DM, Weidner Racing, Zeus Supplements, I’m sure that I’m missing some folks….and last but certainly not least, the folks who have bought from and support this veteran owned company!
