We had the good fortune of connecting with JON SNODGRASS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JON, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I have learned that I can’t really work FOR anybody. But i can work WITH (most) anybody. I like supporting other people and not being the main focus. But, when other people help me, I like for them to do what they do. I give zero notes 99% of the time & just try to treat people how I’d wanna be treated. common courtesy.
mostly, I just can’t be counted on to show up for work at a certain time. (unless it’s nighttime. I’m never late for soundcheck.) The “if you’re not early, you’re late.” expression is true. I just don’t agree to do things that I’m not 100% I can commit to. “golden rule” stuff. If you can make other people’s day better, you have a good shot at a good day yourself. It’s kinda selfish actually. Hah. but seriously, life is better when you’re around stoked people, right?
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It’s weird to talk about a “career.” It’s just ALL that I’ve ever done & the only thing I’m qualified to do. I have 2 releases in the queue. It’s what I do.
During the pandemic, I wrote little jingles / personalized songs for whoever asked. It’s what I do anyway, since middle school w/ my friend Chad Rex. (bonus shoutout). I’ll still send files to him & other buddies to contribute. It’s fun. It’s called “playing” music.
I feel lucky to still get to do this. I’m small time & I’m happy that way. I try. but, I’m not pushing the square thru the round hole. Thx for talking to me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d visit Mishawaka, Coors Field, HorseTooth Reservoir, The GRAWLIX at Bug Theater & visit a rock club. Too many to name & not leave someone out.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
