We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Lyn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
What I value the most is being truthful to myself. Trying to keep what I envision in my head translate onto the canvas and not be obstructed by the ideas of, will people like this? Will it get enough likes? Will it sell? It is almost addicting to see how well something does and focus so much on it that you forget that you should be creating for yourself first. I always want to stay truthful about who I am and what my vision is.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love being able to express what I am feeling, making art that is personal to my experience and letting others connect to it. My favorite thing is hearing how people can connect to my art and the stories they have. This last year with covid made me kind of stop and pause and really think about where I want to go, and I am so excited to see the next step in my career. I would constantly be working and making things just to make. Now I have been able to slow down and really concider what I am doing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always love walking around south broadway Sputnik is one of my favorite spots. I also love visiting plant stores, The Terrarium Shop is amazing, I also love city floral and Rosehouse. I would love to get a drink at hudson hill too. Or just walk around Wash park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think a lot of credit has to go to my friends and family. They are all so supportive and always are helping me and hyping me up. I literally can turn to them with anything and they will always have my back!
