We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own photography business was never just about becoming self-employed—it was about creating something meaningful out of the challenges I had faced. My journey into photography began during a very difficult time in my life. During that time, I learned to value people and moments far more than possessions.

The decision to start my own business, Blue Stone Imagery, came from that place of passion and purpose. I wanted to do something that brought people happiness and helped them preserve the moments that matter most. I knew I had the drive, the empathy, and the work ethic to make it happen. Photography gave me a way to build something from the ground up—something that reflected not only my creativity but also my values.

Starting this business wasn’t easy. I didn’t have formal training or a safety net. But I had lived through hard things, and I knew how to keep going. Building this brand has been a way of turning my story into something beautiful—not just for me, but for every client I serve.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey into photography wasn’t planned—it was born out of a difficult chapter in my life. When I was 10, my mom was in a car accident that left her paralyzed, and my dad became her full-time caregiver. We lost our home and spent three years homeless. Those experiences taught me early on not to cling to material things, but to hold tightly to people, relationships, and the moments we share.

At 16, my dad passed his old photography gear down to me. It wasn’t just a camera—it was a piece of him, and I knew I had to do something meaningful with it. I taught myself how to use it, watching hours of online tutorials, practicing constantly, and eventually photographing my friends at school. I fell in love with the way photography made people feel—seen, joyful, and connected.

I officially started Blue Stone Imagery in 2021, and chose to specialize in wedding photography because it carries so much weight and meaning. A wedding is one of the most emotionally charged, significant days in a person’s life, and being trusted to capture it is a responsibility I don’t take lightly. It’s not just about beautiful images—it’s about preserving something real.

What sets my work apart is the emotional depth I bring to every shoot. I’ve been through enough in life to understand how fragile and fleeting time can be. I don’t just show up with a camera—I show up with intention, sensitivity, and care. I prepare, I listen, and I work hard to make sure each couple feels valued and at ease. I want their photos to feel like them—not staged or trendy, but timeless, joyful, and deeply personal.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I had no formal training, no connections in the industry, and no safety net. But I had a camera, a lot of determination, and a genuine love for the people I photograph. I’m most proud of the reactions I get from my clients when they see their gallery—happy tears, emotional messages, and the feeling that their story was truly honored.

My brand is built on trust, empathy, and the belief that photography is more than a service—it’s a way to hold onto something real. I want the world to know that when you work with me, you’re not just getting a photographer. You’re getting someone who cares just as much about your memories as you do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit for a week, we’d be outside as much as possible. Colorado has so much to offer, especially if you love the mountains like I do.

We’d kick things off in Golden with a walk along Clear Creek and drinks at The Golden Mill. Then we’d spend a day paddle boarding at Chatfield or Boulder Reservoir, followed by dinner and people-watching on Pearl Street.

We’d definitely do a waterfall hike—maybe Rifle Falls or Hanging Lake—and stop in Glenwood Springs to relax in the hot springs afterward. I’d also take them up to Estes Park or Breckenridge for a scenic hike and a cozy mountain night.

We’d spend a day in Denver hitting up brunch spots, local breweries in RiNo, and maybe catch live music or a comedy show. We’d wrap the trip with a sunrise hike, a picnic, and just take it slow, soaking it all in.

Basically, a mix of adventure, chill mountain towns, good food, and great views—that’s my kind of week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m deeply grateful to my entire family for always supporting my dreams and standing by me through every step of this journey. Most of all, I want to thank my parents—everything I am today is because of their strength, love, and belief in me. Their encouragement has meant more than words can express, and I carry their influence with me in everything I do.
