We had the good fortune of connecting with Joslyn Doerge Scott Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joslyn Doerge, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have a scientific illustration/design background and my husband has a landscape/building background. We wanted to join forces and were interested in combining our skills. We also wanted to start a company that could be eco friendly by creating mostly recycled gardens that are drought tolerant and design conscious.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are thrilled to be where we are today with ReScapes! It was a long and arduous road, but with determination and belief in ourselves we were able to get here. It was scary starting our own business, but there we’re other people in this valley that we knew who had done it. We thought if they can do it, so can we! One of the best things about working in this valley is connecting with like minded business owners. Fellow landscapers are not rivals, they are great resources and often provide opportunities to share projects. We learned that the best business practice is to show up, work hard and be fair to your clients and staff. We want people to know that ReScapes is all about trying to reuse available materials and create sustainable, design conscious gardens.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This might sound corny, but I’d like to give my shout out to my husband Scott. Without his support and can do attitude, I’d never would have been able to start this business. It would have never been able to thrive the way it does without his knowledge and hard work. -Joslyn
