Meet Juan Pablo Alvarado V | Rock Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Pablo Alvarado V and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juan Pablo, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
This is not an easy question to answer… I think at the end of the day any decision you make is going to have a consequence and it is going to impact your life. In my personal case, I continue doing a particular thing only if it adds value to my life, if it is aligned with my project and specifically if it makes me happy.
If any of those points is not covered it is a sign that maybe I should revaluate and make some changes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Well my music project started three years ago when I recorded my first album – Walking the unknown. I recorded it in Colombia in my studio and released it in 2021. After this album was done I started working on my second album – The Awakening – which was released in 2022.

My music is mostly instrumental and very focus on the guitar. I studied music at Berklee in Boston and the guitar is my main instrument and the one that I feel more comfortable.

Most of my songs are based on personal experiences, specially the ones that have lyrics, and also with them I try to create some sort of sensation and impact on the listener.

I can say that journey hasn’t been easy but it has been a good journey, you know? it is something that when you look back and see the progress that you’ve done you can feel proud of it!! Specially because this is not my full time job, beside my music career I have a full time job in Mastercard, so I have to find the way to make the time for my music and everything related to it.

Additionally I have started a youtube channel and an Executive MBA in INSEAD in France… so time is always a constraint and a challenge

There is also the creative and inspirational challenges that every musician has, for me every song that I compose and every note that I play on my guitar has to mean something and send a message, and sometimes that won’t happen. Creativity and inspiration are not always there

To be honest there is not one specific point that I want the world to know about my music… I just want to be able to reach as many listener as possible, and to be able to create something nice in everyone that eventually listens one of my songs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

My favorites spots in Denver and in Colorado are national parks and the rocky mountains. It might sounds like a cliche but this is by far one of the main reason I go to this regions… these parks and the nature make Denver and Colorado unique.

Every time I need to think more creatively and to get some inspiration, nature is always a good ally… music for me is very intimate and in a way energetic, so this type of environments and parks help me to connect with my inner source; I know this could sound weird but it is true.

So for me any plan that is related to hiking is a must… you can visit parks such as Red Rock Park or Rocky Mountain National Park and you won’t regret it!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well this time I want to give a special dedication to my band! Finally after being playing my music by myself, without having a formal lineup, this year I have been able to assemble my band with amazing friends and musicians!! So now my band has Alfredo on the bass, Daniel on the rhythm guitar, Camilo on the drums and Ela on the piano, rhythm guitar and voice! She is our newest member, we haven’t played our songs once with her but I am very excited to have Ela now with us! I know that with her Breath of Illusions can get to another level.
