We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia DeSarro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Basically, I just thought that it was time to muster up the courage to follow through with my dreams! I listened to my intuition and it led me down a path that has brought me nothing but joy and fulfillment on such a soul level! Over the course of the last few years I have discovered my entrepeneurial spirit and I cleared limiting beliefs around the idea that I wasn’t the “type of person” who starts their own business. Once I started to envision myself as my own boss, everything started to kind of fall into place. I had been working on my certification program in Reiki for just under a year and wasn’t even looking for a space in Fort Collins when one just kind of fell in my lap. Even before I felt confident in my practice, I started booking appointments. I’ve always had a “throw me to the wolves,” mentality with whatever kind of work I do, and this was no different. I just started to listen to my intuition more and more and it led me to where I am now. I knew that I was passionate about energy work, spirituality, healing others, and being my own boss. With my intentions coming from a place of love and service, I knew I couldn’t fail. I felt that even if I could only help one person, that I still was able to fulfill my purpose and my business would be a success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder and Reiki Master at Vibe-ology Energetic Wellness. I offer energy work and many other spiritual services such as house smudging, cacao ceremonies, and tarot readings, to name a few. I have a physical location in Fort Collins and Red Feather Lakes. I also offer distance energy healing, which means I can send healing energies to anyone in the world! I let my intuition guide me through every session, no matter what the service is. My goal for any and all sessions is to offer healing to my client(s) of the highest good and to allow them the opportunity to welcome in any guidance, validation, or clarity that they are seeking. I pride myself in the summaries I send after sessions. I really take time to go over every detail of what came up during their healing session. I think it’s so important for them to have something to look at that allows them to reflect on everything that was happening in that moment of their healing/spiritual journey. Sometimes we don’t realize how far we’ve come unless we can really sit with where we’ve been. So, having that insight for them to refer back to can be really powerful both immediately after their session and even more so in the future. I have recently added Full Moon Mountain Retreats to my list of services, which is what I am most excited about right now! I have teamed up with another amazing energy worker to provide intimate groups with a unique and truly unforgettable experience. We are in the baby phases of planning but we plan to start offering those in the very near future! I’m really happy with where I’m at with my business, today. For the most part, it was easier than I expected it to be, but it was still hard work. I have basically done almost zero advertising and have let clients come to me organically. Word-of-mouth has been my main source of marketing, and it is working out perfectly. I’m not greedy with clients. I don’t expect everyone to resonate with me or to feel called to receive healing. But, those who do, I welcome with open arms. My biggest challenge in this business has been to learn to not worry about the opinions of others. Being in the alternative field of energy healing has opened me up to lots of opinions; some not so positive. I’ve learned that it’s not my job to convince people that what I’m doing is legit or even worth their time. I totally believe in what I do. I see how it helps others and that’s all that matters. I know my intentions are pure and of the highest good. This is exactly what I came here to do! I first stumbled upon energy work and spirituality in my late teens. Although I felt a strong pull to it then, I let my ego talk me out of pursuing it as a profession. Not to mention, my semi-religious upbringing left me fearing the dark side of spirituality, so not knowing how to differentiate between the light and the dark, I thought it would be best if I just went a different direction altogether. I tried several different directions and wasn’t happy doing any of them; at least not on a soul level. After going through a massive personal development phase and starting to dabble back in the world of energy, I knew this is where I was meant to be. I do wish I would have listened to my intuition sooner, but I know that my life experiences have unfolded exactly as they were meant to and have brought me to this place of healing for myself, and more importantly for those I am able to serve. I am grateful to every, single person who puts their trust in me and opens themselves up to receive whatever healing they need in the moment. It’s truly such a gift to be able to share this with the world!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, truth be told, my husband is the ultimate tour guide in Northern Colorado so I always leave the itinerary creation up to the infamous Tony’s Tours anytime our friends visit. If it were summer, we would head out for a hike up in Roosevelt National Forest. Perhaps we could even go for a sunset white water cruise on the Poudre River. We are surrounded by beautiful mountain lakes where we love to hang out and fish. During the winter, we like to snowshoe or go in the backcountry near Cameron Pass. The Red Feather Lakes Village is a great place to grab lunch, stock up on snacks, and say hello to the locals who live here with us. We also have the Shambhala Mountain Center a couple of miles up the road which is a really cool place to visit with lots of powerful energies. If you are feeling adventurous, maybe a trip up to Vedauwoo in Wyoming to do some rock climbing. Usually our guests are pretty tired by the end of the day so dinner would be out on our deck overlooking the sunset and the Mummy Range. Our back deck is excellent for star-gazing and if it is a clear sky you are guaranteed to see at least a couple shooting stars!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The obvious answer here is my husband, Tony. Without his support and constant encouragement, I would have never found it within myself to follow through with this business. There were times when my ego would start to convince me that I wouldn’t be able to do this. Who was I kidding? Who do I think I am? He would bring me back to reality. Anytime I would be fearful, he would remind me that fear can either be in front of me, keeping me from moving forward; or behind me, pushing me into whatever it is that I fear. Keeping that in the back of my mind and always choosing to let fear push me had so much to do with my day to day action steps that got me where I am today. His hard work also allowed me the convenience to leave my job and devote my full attention to my studies and the launch of vibe-ology. He still encourages and praises me and all of my crazy ideas on a daily basis. I truly wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without him.
