We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Dordoni and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Integrity and quality matter most to me. Treating my clients with utmost respect and professionalism, while following through with a quality product is the foundation of my business. Clients can rest assured that with 16 years of experience as a professional artist, and with over 150 wedding paintings in my portfolio, I have a streamlined process that is predictable and productive. I take tremendous pride in producing quality works of art, and I have found my true passion as a wedding painter! I love creating fairytale-style paintings. Capturing the energy of love will fuel my creative spirit for the rest of my life! It is my honor to share my works of art with you.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love creating paintings that spark the energy of love we all hold inside. I intentionally use bright colors because they are “feel-good” colors, and I like to use a soft loose style because it is relaxing. I capture the most beautiful elements of the environment in a whimsical, impressionistic fashion. When painting weddings, I zone in on the newlyweds – being sure to accentuate subtle details in the bride’s gown and jewelry. I am inspired to improve my technical skills with each new painting and I always challenge myself to be the best artist I am capable of being. I got to where I am today through perseverance and countless hours of dedicated work. I believe in my art. I see the incredible reactions of newlyweds when they receive their paintings, and I read their heartfelt reviews. It all means so much to me! I know that my art positively affects people’s lives, and this is the fuel that keeps me painting. Because of my persistence and professionalism, I get booked for weddings 2-3 years in advance. During the wedding season, I have 2-4 weddings each week. It is a lot of work, and it was not easy getting to this point. Although I have a college degree in art education (and specialized in sculpture), I am a self-taught painter and business person. There is so much involved with being a successful entrepreneur, but after 16 years, there is still nothing I’d rather do. Stay tuned for my “love story paintings!” I have a vision I will launch in about a year that combines storytelling with wedding paintings, to create truly unique works of art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take a friend on a trip into the mountains. I love ski towns, mountain biking and good food. We would go to Winter Park for some epic mountain biking, and then happy hour at Pepe O Saka, followed by a glass of wine at Winter Park Winery. The next day we’d drive to Breckenridge for more mountain biking, and then a stroll through the village. We’d go to Raitman Art Gallery and view the amazing works of art. In Steamboat Springs, we would ride or hike Spring Creek Trail, and then go to Mambo’s for happy-hour pizza. On the weekend, we would go to Red Rocks Amphitheater for the best concerts. We could literally just drive to any mountain town in Colorado to have a good time!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to offer a shout-out to Julie Marsh at the McReery House in Loveland, Colorado! I had the opportunity to paint a wedding at the McReery House in 2022 and I was blown away by the ease, professionalism, and hospitality that Julie and her crew offered vendors and guests. Everyone felt at home, like a big family! The facility and grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Julie’s flair for interior design really shows in the picture-perfect decor throughout the historic home. It was evident that her employees are happy and comfortable. Everyone looked relaxed and was at ease while being productive. The type of atmosphere Julie created with her venue and crew set the stage for a beautiful, enjoyable wedding where everything flowed perfectly. It would be my honor to paint more weddings at the McReery House, not only because of the beauty of the venue, but to be in the company of Julie’s and her team. You can trust that Julie will host a perfect wedding at the McReery House.
