We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Reddington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julie, what do you attribute your success to?
I am British and moved to the US back in 2005. As I thought we would be going back after 2 years, I wanted to learn something that is done very differently in the US so I could take back to the UK to implement. Well 2 years turned in 18 years (and counting so far). Once I was licensed, the Real Estate world has so many coaches in this business, all of them saying the secret to success was ‘x y z’. For many years I was trying to reinvent myself into these personas which I believed would make be successful. It took me many years to realize that as soon as you know your value system and what you stand for, the attention goes where energy flows. I would tell anyone that do what brings you joy. Coaching, books, podcasts do all have their places. However as soon as you wake up to who you actually are to the core and have hustle and drive, it doesn’t matter what time you wake up, what your daily habits are. I ask anyone ‘What your Superpower is’. Mine is connection – one of my first memories was at 4 years old walking up to (who is now my oldest friend) who was struggling to go in on our first day of school and saying “come play with me”. I have continued to connect anyone and everything ever since.
What should our readers know about your business?
A lot of this is covered in my first question. As well as my Real Estate career, I am also the Founder of Brits in Denver which is a growing community. It started as a coffee for 2, and now we have around 1200 members. I also just became the MD for the Highlands Ranch chapter of the Polka Dot Powerhouse. This is my new place to shine. As I mentioned, connection is my no 1 value, and this gives the platform to bring today some incredible women.
I think most of us have that voice in our head that puts doubt in us. Dialogue like “Why is that person more successful”, “What will People think of me”. For the last few years, around my birthday (Oct), I come up with a mantra for the following year. Back in 2019, my mantra was ‘Shut out the Noise”. Who knew going how powerful that would be going into 2020.
I feel blessed that I come for North-west of England where ‘Northerners’ are known for their down to earth personalities and humor. I get back at least 1-2 times a year for what I call my ‘grounding’ time. The UK helps me keep my feet on the ground … The US gives me the wings to fly
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Can I say head to DIA and get one of 3 direct flights a day to the UK. Places aren’t really a thing for me here. However the people and tribe I hang with would where I would want visitors to hang with. I have a really cool back deck and basement. So summer gatherings are on the deck, and winter its into the basement.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
1, My husband of 27 years (who I met in an Elevator when I was 18 yrs old). 2. Our 2 incredible daughters who are definitely Queens in training
3. The CEO of Colorado Home Realty – Matt Hudson who runs an incredible soulful company
4. Adam Hebener – my guru, unofficial mentor, and all around amazing human
