We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Anthony and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Cool fades, useful is forever” may be one of the least sexy quotes of all time, but has served as a litmus test for so many of the decisions I’ve made over the last few decades and continues to help drive success. While cool and useful are not mutually exclusive, I’ve always felt that the former is exponentially harder to maintain than the latter. And, the constant effort required to “keep things cool” often comes at the expense of utility.
Striving to build something that is truly useful to your target audience is equal parts grounding and liberating as it removes a lot of the subjectivity and frees you to focus on delivering a product or experience that endures.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Artwork Archive provides artists, collectors and institutions powerful tools to manage their artwork, career, or collection. The company has been around for over a decade now and has clients in over 130 countries. An ongoing focus on authenticity, accessibility and utility is what we attribute the continued growth and success of the company.
Artists and creatives in general have little tolerance for anything inauthentic and we have worked hard to maintain a team, culture and platform that embodies the mission of the company. It doesn’t hurt that every member of the team is an artist, collector or art professional themselves so we’re all inevitably scratching our own itches.
On the accessibility front, we knew that our audience is made up of people/institutions of all ages and stages and wanted to build something that was not only easy to use, but also affordable. Existing solutions in the space were very difficult to use and tended to cater to only the elite that could afford them and this is a trend we wanted to disrupt.
Lastly, continuing to offer something useful to our audience is something everyone on the team strives for. 90%+ of what we do is driven directly by user interaction and everyone on the team is required to do at least 30 minutes of customer support a day to ensure they have a first-hand understanding of the needs and wants of our audience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
From a places/things to check out standpoint, I’m going to keep my recommendation generic as I think anyone coming in from out of town needs to at least do some activity in the mountains. It’s one of the reasons so many of us came here and there’s a near limitless amount of things to do there. When it comes to food and drink, I have too many biases given I have been in the Denver bar/restaurant industry for over 10yrs (I still own Matchbox and American Bonded) and have too many friends I can’t include here. The RiNo neighborhood will always be close to my heart as I think it has so much to offer from a food/drink/cultural/artistic side of things so that’s a good general place for anyone to start and we love Super Mega Bien or Work & Class for a fun bite.
My wife and I really love the Yacht Club/Brixton combo for a date night as Yacht Club is putting out some of the best drinks in town right now and has an awesome atmosphere and Brixton is attached to the other side and has some tasty food to help tamp down the effect of the drinks next door.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m incredibly fortunate to have an amazing family and friend group that have always supported me, but My Shoutout is to all those I’ve worked with in the past. As cliché as it sounds, “getting the right people on the bus” has always been the key driver to the success of any venture I’ve ever been a part of and I’ve worked with and continue to work with some truly amazing people.
