We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The initial thought behind starting my own business was to be able to work for myself versus working for someone else. I feel like I was called to do more than what I was doing in the past. I took a jump at DreamisGrind and it’s been rewarding to achieve some success…we are just getting started! I wanted to create a business to fund the lifestyle of my dreams and to create more time and flexibility for my family.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most proud of the progression of DreamisGrind, the company started with one goal in mind and has expanded over the years. We organically evolved into a talent agency focusing on music, events/concerts, reality tv, and comedy. I love what we do and we believe in our community. I got to my professional status by keeping a positive attitude, consistently working hard as I could, and managing my time and duties through adversity. I’ve been balancing working a full time corporate job and once done with end of business for that job, then I continue to work for DreamisGrind; that in itself has taught me the value of dedication and hard work. One of the lessons that I’ve learned during the process is that nobody cares that you started a business, especially in entertainment — meaning you really have to be a self starter and self supporter, you need to believe in yourself and mission to establish your credibility. Another lesson is that it takes a team to win, you can’t do everything by yourself. Our story is that we are multi-faceted creative production company, and we want dreams to come to light; our slogan literally states “where passion meets reality” and we feel that can be represented in any part of life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First we would all get settled in at my house, probably do a little bar hopping tour throughout the Downtown Denver area. Depending on the season, we would go to a Nuggets, Rockies, or Broncos game, and probably take them to one of our Kush Groove Denver shows. I would take them to my favorite spots to eat in Five Points, Cherry Creek North, Downtown, and Highlands. And of course I would take them to get some bomb Colorado mexican food, we would most likely pull up to El Taco de Mexico for some smothered burritos.   Lastly, after all the city fun is completed, we would end the trip with a mountain getaway in grand lake or aspen.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my direct support who is my wife Jenni Johnson. She really believes in me and is constantly encouraging me. I truly work hard for my wife and sons! My sons bring the best out of me. In addition, I would like to shoutout my Dream Is Grind teammates, they motivate the heck out of me! I want to see us win BIG! Over the years, we all have stayed committed to accomplishing our missions and goals. With our God given abilities, perseverance, determination…we can do anything!! Lastly, I would like to shoutout my parents. They instilled great values in me that have carried over in many areas of life.
