We had the good fortune of connecting with Kailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kailey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always wanted to start my own business. My parents are both entrepreneurs and I saw how it allowed them to spend more time at home with me and make their own schedules. I knew I wanted a location-independent business, so that is why I decided to create my website and YouTube channel.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am still growing my business but I am excited every time I make a little bit of progress. My goal is to help 100,000 people learn how to crochet and I want to make it extremely accessible to beginners. Not everyone has someone to teach them how to crochet in person so I want to be that person for them.

What sets me apart is two-fold: 1. I teach step-by-step what you need to do to learn how to crochet. I haven’t found another website that lays out everything in a chronological fashion. 2. I make sure that you always have a “win.” When I was learning, I didn’t want to make practice pieces for no reason, so I make sure that the tutorials that I write culminate in a pattern or that you can learn a skill and there is an accessible pattern to make right away.

In the future, I plan to expand my library of patterns but I want to make sure that the building blocks are in place first so beginners can learn all of the skills needed to crochet any pattern that I create.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My grandma Charrie deserves so much credit. She taught me how to crochet when I was 5 and we have shared our love of crocheting and crafting ever since. She is so smart and creative. I love that she gifted me with this craft that has been passed down through generations.
