We had the good fortune of connecting with Kailina Erickson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kailina, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always had a passion for filmmaking, even when I was a kid, I used to love to take a camcorder and record everything. I absolutely love the way video shows a moment in motion, and the way that it truly tells a story.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I specialize in creating wedding films and I like to pride myself in the fact that Roots and Wings Productions is more of a boutique style company in the fact that we limit the amount of weddings we take on each year, allowing us to truly take the time to get to know our couples more in depth. My couples weddings are not just another wedding film to add to my portfolio but a unique piece created for them to cherish for all the years to come. When I started my business I was working in retail, and I took a very bold step in faith quitting my full time job and jumping in to a industry that I had a passion for. I filmed my first few weddings for free and it went from there, now I am proud to say I have grown so much over the past few years and this is now my full time job where I get to be creative and do something I truly have a passion for. Being able to be part of a once in a lifetime day is not something I take lightly.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The mountains easily, I absolutely love being in the mountains and being in Colorado I am blessed to have the Rocky Mountains a short trip away.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost God. My husband, he really pushed me to chase after my dreams and I honestly wouldn’t be in the career that I am in without his ongoing encouragement and support. John Bunn and Nick Miller with How To Film Weddings have been incredible mentors.
