Meet Kameron Bentley | Security guard business owner.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kameron Bentley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kameron, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was simple. I needed control over my time and my income. At the time, I was dealing with health issues, and it made it hard to keep a steady job. I kept losing positions because of my health, and I knew I couldn’t rely on traditional employment anymore.
More than anything, I wanted to make sure I had enough time and money to be there for my child. That became my main priority. I needed something that could pay well but didn’t require me to constantly trade all my time or risk getting let go again due to circumstances outside my control.
Starting my own business gave me that opportunity. It allowed me to create income on my terms, build something stable, and still be present for my family when it mattered most.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Bentley & Sons LLC, was built out of necessity and purpose. I started it during a time in my life when I was dealing with serious health challenges, and I couldn’t rely on traditional jobs. They just weren’t stable for my situation. I needed something that would allow me to control my time, provide for my family, and still create strong income. That’s what pushed me into entrepreneurship.
What sets us apart is our reliability, structure, and professionalism. In an industry where a lot of companies are inconsistent, we focus heavily on communication, detailed reporting, and actually showing up and doing the job right every time. Whether it’s fire watch, construction site security, or event coverage, we treat every contract like it’s critical because to our clients, it is.
I’m most proud of the fact that I built this from the ground up while going through adversity. There were times it definitely wasn’t easy. Balancing health, family, and trying to grow a business takes discipline and resilience. I overcame those challenges by staying consistent, leaning on my faith, and keeping my focus on the bigger picture. Creating stability for my child and building something that lasts.
Along the way, I’ve learned that consistency beats talent, relationships matter more than anything, and your reputation is everything in business. If you do what you say you’re going to do, people will keep coming back.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that this isn’t just a business. It’s something built with purpose. It’s about providing real security, creating opportunities, and showing that even in tough situations, you can build something strong if you stay focused and keep going.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, my favorite spot in the city is my home. I’m a great cook and I host a lot of dinners and BBQs, so most of the best times end up happening there. It’s hard for me to eat out because I cook so well, and I enjoy creating that experience for the people around me.
If a close friend was visiting, a lot of the week would revolve around good food, good company, and a laid back environment at the house. I’d mix in a few outings around the city, but most of the real memories would be made at home, grilling, cooking, and just enjoying time together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d dedicate my shoutout to my grandparents first and foremost. I was fortunate enough to grow up knowing not only all of my grandparents, but even my great-grandparents, and that’s something I don’t take for granted. They poured a lot into me, values, work ethic, and perspective that still guide me today. My grandpa Stan and grandma Pearl especially had a big impact on who I’ve become.
I also have a strong community around me, and there are honestly too many people to name who have supported and encouraged me along the way. But at the center of everything is my son Bray he’s my biggest motivation and the reason I push myself to keep building and growing.
And above all, I give credit to God for guiding me through the highs and lows and putting the right people in my life at the right time.
