We had the good fortune of connecting with Karis Ranta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karis, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by authenticity. Whether that be the bride who wants to wear a red dress, serve tacos and ditch all the conventional aspects of a wedding, or the couple who genuinely loves the reverence of tradition, I want to be there to help them in what feels true to them. Every wedding is always unique and special to each couple. One of my favorite examples was a bride from last year who had the dream as a 10 old to get married in the field behind her parents house and to pick her own flowers from the same field. Fast forward 20 years later, and that’s exactly what we did. We had a beautiful outdoor ceremony mid September, and the bride and all her girls went into the field and picked their flowers before the wedding. The best!

What should our readers know about your business?
One of the greatest privileges of being a business owner is being able to set the tone and go above and beyond for my clients. I’ve found one of my great joys of being a wedding planner is being able to serve the bride and groom on the most important day of their lives. It’s such a privilege that I get to be invite into and to play such a crucial role to these people who (really) don’t know me well. I take pride and joy in anticipating their needs in serving them to ensure they have the the capacity to fully enjoy their day.

I sort of stumbled my way into being a business owner- was never something I’d seen myself pursuing, but now I can’t imagine my life any other way. I have had a lot of people over the years who have believed in me, poured into me and given me opportunity to grow and learn. My business exists because of them, and now my goal is to provide others with the same faith, opportunity, and teaching that I received

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First of all- coffee stop! My favorite coffee places are Sonder and Mango Tree. We would make our way downtown and probably go out to eat at a Mediterranean restaurant (my FAV). The hot springs are a MUST. My favorite springs Strawberry Springs in Steamboat, but I also really love Mt. Princeton Hot Springs in Buena Vista. I am also a wine fanatic and wine tasting is my favorite thing of all time. Bigsby’s Folly in RiNo is one of my favorite places in Denver.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is my mentor turned father-figure, Mark Ayers. I say all the time, ” I honestly have no idea what I would do without Mark.” He is the smartest, kindest, and wisest person in my life- hands down.

Mark has championed me in the smallest things to the biggest things. He’s the one I call when I moving across the country, starting a new business, or just go on a weird date. His insight and advice is the best I’ve ever received in every situation. I find my self often stopping and asking myself, “What would Mark do in this scenario?”

I wouldn’t be where I am without him, and I can’t ever thank him enough for everything he’s done for me.

He’s my shoutout- hands down, no questions asked!
