We had the good fortune of connecting with Kashish Sachdeva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kashish, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Currently Informed is an organization created to raise awareness and enocurage people to take action. My thought process to create this began as I was just scrolling through Instagram. I began to notice that every story I clicked on was reposting the same headline yet no more discussion or action was followed on the topic. It became a reoccuring pattern for every newsworthy event. This frustrated me, I wanted people in my community and nation to take more actions towards issues as important as the overruling of Roe v. Wade. I decided to create Currently Informed to provide a platform to make change. I began the petition for the Judiciary Act of 2021 and it gained national support reaching Congresswoman Katie Porter. I’m very glad I was able to make change on my society by creating Currently Informed and offering direct ways of taking action (fundraisers, protests, petitions, etc.)

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Holding discussions and conversations with ordinary people around me is what got me where I am today. I’m only 17 years old but I’ve learned several lessons in my journey of creating Currently Informed. I’ve learned how important it is to listen to personal experiences of others and come together to fight for the same cause. I want the world to know with or without Currently Informed, everyone needs to look out for each other and take action on important issues.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I’m a resident of Irvine, California, if my best friend was visiting the area, I would take them to LA. Los Angeles is the heart of protests, making change, good food, and just a very fun time. Specifically, I would visit Little Tokyo – where I witnessed my first protest, and the Grove – the most lit place I could imagine! I would eat the delicious udon of Marguame Monzo and grab boba to enjoy my day at LA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the New York Times. I would not be as educated as I am today without reading articles for hours every day. They helped me gain enough knowledge to make Currently Informed come true and now I hope to do the same for others.
