We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasie Fogleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kasie, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
God grant me the serenity to accept the people I can not change. The courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it’s me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I currently own a cleaning business, DirtyGirl Concierge Cleaning. I provide cleaning services to home owners moving in or moving out of their homes. I think it is important to live a place clean and ready for the new owners and after all the work it takes to move out, I want to lessen the burden of having to now clean that mess. I started this business after I bought my first home. It was awful cleaning the old house late at night so it would be ready for the new owners by next morning. Once I started moving into my new house I realized I had clean again just make it ready to place my belongings. I was skeptical at first that I could even start a business. I was always given such positive motivation early on that I could. Th risk was low, I had another job, and I had just enough saved to start it up. It took 4-5 years to get rolling, as I am sure many are told, it doesn’t happen over night. I am just busy enough that I don’t have to employ staff and I and I have no one to blame for a crummy job but me. Number one lesson is that I can do it. I can do it again.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Of course number one on the list for my friends is Red Rocks. It is known to many around the world and believe it should be on everyone’s list at some point in their life, especially if they are in Denver for the first time or 50th time. Next we head to the mountains. My favorite place to be and where I feel most at home. Hiking, riding bikes, skiing, visiting small towns with cute little gift shops and plenty of Colorado history. I don’t think I really have a favorite place to eat or drink, there are way to many good ones to just choose one. That’s why I love Colorado because it has so much to see and do and every time I have friends and family in town there has never been a “what should we do now”.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe every single person that has entered and exited my life has played a huge part in who I am today. I have learned many things from my Mother and my Father. Each one bringing different aspects of their life into mine over the years. Friends, co-workers, customers, and people I meet on the street, also become teachers and influencers. I can’t thank all of them personally, but they will know who they are. Just because I can’t name one or two, I know for a fact that the differences in all of us can help us grow and become better members of our community and without them I think life could get really boring.
