We had the good fortune of connecting with Kassandra Dominguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kassandra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Growth. To be honest, I don’t believe I have “succeeded” because I’m not finished. I have changed my direction more times than I can recall and I am positive I will do it countless more times. That’s kind of the whole purpose of my brand. I started writing a mom-blog when I had my oldest. I called it “Gypsy Mama” and began creating under that name for some time. I struggled to find my “niche” for a while because I wanted to do it all (hence why I thought the name was fitting at the time). I still do. 24 year old Kass has just gotten slightly more organized while still winging it! My “niche” is just me now, and what I contribute to my community; the convention community, the music community, the mom community and everyone in between. The more I grow as a person, the more my brand grows, the more our community grows.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
During the weekdays, I work part time in an amazing field that I am working towards growing in-no matter the success of my brand. I’m currently a student and I am working towards a Developmental Psychology degree. All while being a wife and a mama. Somewhere in between all of that, I do what I can to create. When I’m not creating, I’m volunteering. I share a little bit of all of this with my community in hopes that my brand-what I stand for, who I am, and what I create will somehow make a difference for someone. Nothing about it has been easy, I basically dove head first into the creator scene. One day I woke up and started posting the things that I have been working on. Through that I’ve stumbled upon wonderful experiences that help me grow as a person and in turn I get to help my community grow. There have been so many times where I have just stopped. Life caught up and my “hobbies” were the first to go. I went almost a year without writing even a simple poem. There were times when I withdrew from art shows. There were times my health (physical and mental) made me want to quit everything. I lost momentum with my brand and began to lose followers and opportunities. I’m still slowly learning that I can’t pour from an empty cup. And the more I realize that, the more “success” I find. I’m no where near where I am wanting to be, but I’m getting there. I can feel it. I want me and my brand to make others feel valid with or without a “niche”. If you want to test the waters in everything you stumble across, let’s do it together! I thank God for this passion every day!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being that I am a NM native, when I visit Colorado (my home away from home) it’s a road trip! Of course, we have to stop by Allsups before we leave the state! Pretty close to the border is the Echo Amphitheater, a childhood fave that everyone should witness! We head up to Pagosa Springs, one of my favorite towns in the country! Typically when I’m in Pagosa I want to soak up the views and the sounds of nature. On our last trip we camped overnight at the East Fork Campground. We had the perfect spot with the perfect views. Ever since the first time I visited Pagosa Springs as a child, a stop at the Malt Shoppe is a must! This will be our first stop on our next visit! On our last trip up to Denver we caught a show at Red Rocks Amphitheater! I’m so happy I get to cross that off my bucket list, and as long as it’s not raining, I can’t wait to be back! That night we Doordashed from The Meltdown near out motel. It hit the spot for a late night post-rainy concert dinner! But, obviously, now that the good ole In-N-Out is in Colorado how can you not?! We stopped on our way back to The Land of Enchantment before stopping near Raton at Russel’s Travel Center. If you ever have the chance to stop here, you wont regret it! It’s the cutest and most welcoming truck stop. They say the journey is the destination and places like these on a road trip prove that true! I can’t wait to be back and explore more of one of my favorite states. Quarantine put a damper on traveling for me, but I have a feeling CO will be seeing me much more in the near future.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest supporters are the people in my day-to-day life. My best friends Krissa and Celeste have been my go to for any situation, for years! I have been blessed to have an amazing work crew who has supported me and had my back since day one! My biggest motivators are, without a doubt, my hubby and our two wild kiddos-I do it all for them! The Global Autism Project is an amazing organization that I not only fully support, but also have the pleasure of volunteering with. I am beyond excited to soon share this journey with everyone! Last but not least, shoutout to my new friends in the ABQ Comic Con scene, who have introduced me to amazing people and given me amazing experiences that I get to share with the world!
