We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathleen Peachey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kathleen, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic career because I believe any artistic venture is an exceptional way to express our emotions. I specifically chose photography as my career path due to its ability as an art form to capture and preserve unforgettable moments, and memories, for a lifetime.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Truly any form of art is an inspiration to me, but I believe what sets me apart is the grace, love, and truth behind every image I capture. While attending Brooks’ Institute, I worked three jobs to improve all aspects of my photography. I took that drive and motivation in getting my business off the ground. While the journey has been difficult, the results of capturing moments for my clients has been more rewarding than I could have imagined. Along the way I have learned that perseverance and the drive to always do what’s right has made the difficult path a little easier. Treating every single person with kindness and compassion while being able to capture their story, which will be shared for many generations, is what I strive to achieve in every session.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I am a mountain girl through and through, so I would start the trip with a visit to Crested Butte. Specifically, I would take them to Nicky’s Mini Donuts in town, and drive Kebler’s Pass to show them the beauty of Colorado. Once back in the city, we would have to end our week by going to Little Man Ice Cream.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story is filled with so many wonderful people, but the artistic soul came from my parents. My mom is an amazing writer, while my dad is an incredible photographer. As a child, I remember my mom and dad constantly having the video and polaroid cameras out. My parents, along with my siblings, have always believed in me and pushed me to be better. My family is my biggest support system. Additionally, while at college, I met an incredible artist, Bruce Burkhardt, who has become not only an amazing mentor, but a great friend. He inspired me to reach to the depths of my emotions, and from there to create. He is a wonderful artist and human. http://bruceburkhardt.com
