We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Rothenbury and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Creativity, for me, is the ultimate form of self-expression, a way to bring ideas to life, and a means to make a meaningful impact on the world. It’s the path that allows me to blur the lines between work and play, where every project is a new adventure, and where I can inspire, evoke emotion, and leave a lasting impression through my work. I chose a creative career in digital marketing to help businesses because I believe that creativity is a catalyst for innovation and growth. It allows me to see problems from unique angles, devise innovative solutions, and craft compelling messages that resonate with diverse audiences. Creativity not only fuels my passion but also empowers me to help businesses stand out, connect deeply with their consumers, and ultimately thrive in a dynamic and competitive landscape.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Graduating college during the height of the COVID pandemic, completely rocked my job search and the dreams I thought I had for my career. Mountain Air Marketing landed in my lap (literally) all thanks to a connection from my previous boss. They always say it’s who you know in the world of business and life and I can confidently say, this is true. I did not land where I originally planned, but I did land where I now know I was meant to be.

It didn’t take long for me to recognize I hit the jackpot with MAM- the ability to fuel my creative passions, collaborate with a team of passionate individuals, have an incredible work/life balance, all while growing and learning from two badass moms. The best part? The camaraderie of an all-female team is a dream come true in every way. While some may question the true dynamic of an all-female team behind the scenes, I can promise you… we actually all love one another and each have unique strengths we bring to the table.

With a mix of skills, from creative storytellers to website designers, SEO experts to social media gurus, we create a dynamic synergy that propels brands’ forward. This blend of talents enables us to cover every aspect of the marketing funnel with precision and creativity. We’re not in the business of chug-and-churn marketing. We don’t believe in simply going through the motions and delivering generic solutions. Instead, we understand that every business is unique and goals are distinct. That’s why we take the time to deeply understand every brand, audience, and objective. Every click, like, share, and conversion is a testament to our dedication for client success.

Professionally, I am motivated by the daily passion we all share to always strive to be better and do more for ourselves and our clients. Personally, I am comforted by the vulnerability our team has built and the open environment we’ve established; to be your true, authentic self without judgment. I believe we are better business women because we know and care for each other as people, first and foremost.

We’re bringing a fresh breath of mountain air into the agency space and being part of the success of so many businesses is the most rewarding part. I love what I do, I love who I do it with, and I love seeing the wins (both big and small) each of our clients have month after month, year after year.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado Springs is truly a vibrant playground for adventure. We would make sure to stop by my favorite local coffee shop, Hold Fast Coffee, and order a delicious iced chai and the best breakfast tacos. Followed by many scenic drives through Garden of the Gods- you truly can’t visit this red-rock wonder enough. We would then give my pups lots of play time at Bear Creek Park and grab lunch at Dos Santos in downtown Colorado Springs for a spicy margarita and more stellar tacos. An absolute must on our itinerary would be visiting the Olympic & Paralympic Museum which is one of the nation’s most interactive museums filled with the rich and inspiring history of Team USA athletes. We would then conquer Pikes Peak, aka “America’s Mountain” in some form. Whether you hike it, drive it, or just gaze at it in awe, the views from the top are sure to take your breath away! We would end a busy week with a stroll through Old Colorado City and visit one of my favorite shops, Sweetwater A Flower Market and dinner at Paravicini’s Italian Bistro.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe everything to Mountain Air Marketing’s co-owners, Rachel Gomez and Carly Benewith. They took a chance on me as a young, wide-eyed professional and everyday since have been the most inspiring role models, mentors, mother’s and friends. What they have built is nothing short of remarkable. Their leadership extends far beyond just the tangible achievements. It’s about the values they instill in us, the trust they place in our abilities, and the genuine care they show for each team member. Thank you for making my dream job a daily reality.

To my incredible husband, thank you for being my rock. Your patience, love, and unwavering faith is what keeps me going everyday.

To my parents, thank you for giving me every opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. I would not be where I am without your unconditional support and encouragement.
