We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Tufte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing about this industry that I think most people are unaware of, and honestly something I didn’t quite realize at first, was this business is about so much more than selling products. Above and beyond what we are selling, I have found this business has encouraged personal development and pushed me outside my comfort level, all while lifting and inspiring others along the way. I’ve been given a combination of tools to teach me how to run my own business, find financial independence, health and well-being to build lasting and productive relationships.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Last year, I partnered with a health and wellness company called Q Sciences. The “Q” in Q Sciences represents the word “Quintessential,” meaning the best of the best! Because putting out an average product isn’t what we stand for at Q Sciences, the leadership, culture, and opportunity match our line of full-spectrum hemp products and nutritional supplements by being quintessentially better than everyone else in the industry. Our company ensures that the science is proven, that formulas are based on research, and that ingredient quality is unmatched. While this is all impressive, for me, the motivation lies with the ability to offer something that could be life-changing to either someone’s health or financial goals. I feel like I got to where I am by being genuine and honest. Truly caring about the people I’m connecting with, all while continuing to work on my own personal growth and leadership skills. I also work in the real estate lending industry and have two little kids, so I would be lying if I said it has been easy. There have been a lot of late nights in the office working, connecting, and building relationships. But I came into this industry with a clear WHY. WHY am I doing this business? WHAT is my driving force to keep me going and never give up, despite the hard days. You see, what I’ve learned is you have to be committed. There will be rejection, disappointments, and days when you simply don’t feel like moving forward. But when you’re committed to the larger goal and your WHY, it helps you push forward and see this as a long term plan to get you where you want to be. I would hope that once people get to know me they know where my heart is. The testimonies that pour in proving the quality of the products and the culture of the opportunity we offer, makes the late nights worth it. This opportunity itself is much bigger than the blessings it’s given me and my family, but it has allowed me to touch hundreds and maybe even thousands of lives because of the ripple effect and the explosive growth within the health and wellness space. And to think it all started with me jumping into a business I knew nothing about and figuring it out as I went.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week and it was just the two of us without kids (talk about a fantasy), I’d pick her up at the airport and start the week off by stopping at my favorite restaurant in town, Angelos. The pasta, oysters and Carboy wine are a must have. From there we would make our way up to the mountains. We’d stay in the village and ski a full day at Beaver Creek, followed by drinks and apps at a local apres-ski place. Live music is a must. The next day we would continue west on I-70 and spend the day at the hot springs in Glenwood. Maybe get a massage at the Yampah Spa before venturing into the vapor caves. A night at Hotel Colorado sounds fun. We could see if we spot those ghost that everyone talks about. From there we would continue our way across the state and land in Palisade, where there are seven wineries close together. There’s also a small bike shop that rents out bikes to those looking to take on the adventure of biking from one spot to the next! In an effort to truly unwind and enjoy some downtime, we would end our vacation even further west at Gateway Canyons Spa and Resort. The pool, firepits, and beautiful outdoor activities and scenery would be the perfect way to slow down and enjoy a week away from reality!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I literally have a list running through my head of people I’d love to shout out when it comes to the success in my business, but at the top of my list is definitely my supportive husband! He not only encourages me daily, gives me advice, and goes above and beyond when it comes to solo parenting while I’m working, but he also genuinely tells me how proud of me he is. The unwavering support has been motivating and I love the fact that I’m able to financially contribute to our family in a way I’ve never been able to before.
