We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendie Roy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kendie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
During my time as a beautician and holistic health coach I became a mom and went through some pretty scary emotional distress when I had my second child. Postpartum depression took a hold of me. I had no idea what I was going through at the time. I hit rock bottom but found resilience and strength through integrative health and learning how to love myself again.
I found that many women that would sit my chair had the same problems as me and the traditional idea of superficial beauty only covered up the problem. Eventually, the makeup would wash off, the hair-color would fade, they’d put the weight back on, and these women would be left with their same insecurities. The cycle would repeat itself over and over.
I realized that anyone can look however they want these days and health knowledge is now at our fingertips 24/7. So why are so many women on antidepressants, anxiety ridden, overstimulated, and on the verge of a mental breakdown? With countless resources available, shouldn’t women be walking around in droves as confident, vibrant, and ageless feminine beauties giving their abundant and inherent love to the world effortlessly? The truth is that if a woman isn’t motivated to change then none of the resources in all the world will ever be enough to heal her at the core.
It’s not just eduction women need to heal their inner selves, but inspiration as well. It’s time for women to awaken to their inherent beauty that lies within and honor everything that they are as a harmonious, all-encompassing symphony of beauty working together to create a unified woman. Unapologetically beautiful in both strength and in her vulnerability. We can do this by learning how to become connected to our femininity on an intuitive level.
Instead of just dreaming about a better outlook on beauty for women, I decided to dedicate myself to the action steps that will shape that dream into reality. That’s when I began sheawaken.com inspiring women and educating them how to awaken their authentic and innate femininity within. If I can inspire them to want to connect with themselves on the deepest level then I have an open door to educate through a healthier more holistic lifestyle shift. They’ll be able to live balanced in spite of the constant demands of keeping up with how “the world” thinks women should be living, acting, or even feeling, and they’ll have the endurance to give more freely to the world.
I plan on adding a many online courses on exactly how this unique, beauty-inspired lifestyle can shift women into a more confident and balanced authentic woman in 2025. I hope to inspire a movement of women all around the world to go beyond wanting just a pretty face, and taking small action steps to live like the awakened beauty’s that we are! #SHEAwaken or visit my business IG @myawakenedbeauty.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career is in integrative health coaching, specifically feminine wellness coaching. I guide women through an integrative coaching program that touches on physical, emotional, and spiritual health and balance in order to cultivate her own authentic and inherent feminine energy. Thus, giving her an all encompassing beauty that begins from the inside out.
My approach to feminine wellness is a totally new and unique concept that no one is talking about! My cosmetology background as a hair specialist, formal event hair and makeup artist mixed with my integrative health coaching certification, and a lifetime practicing my Christian faith has given me the ability to view beauty within women as a harmonious trinity of spiritual, emotional, and physical wellness.
The world says beauty can be achieved with products and procedures. It’s says that with enough money you can buy your beauty. But I want the world to know that this idea is outdated and no longer serves us as women to believe it. While makeup and hair can certainly be a fun creative outlet, It’s time for women to get serious about their beauty and focus on enhancing their authentic, ageless vitality by nurturing her own feminine essence that lies within!
The one thing I am just over the moon about is the community of women around the world that SHE Awaken is waking up and choosing to live better. Any woman can be apart of SHE Awaken and become an “Awakened Beauty!” It doesn’t matter if she is on a health journey with a network marketing product or company, or if she is a member at a gym or club, all women that are dedicated to intentional living and nurturing her feminine essence are what SHE Awaken calls an Awakened Beauty. All she has to do is use the hashtag #AwakenedBeauty and she is apart of the community! And in addition to this movement of women, I’m adding some online courses as well.
Getting to where I am now was not easy. I think to have such a niche career I needed to live through some life lessons and experiences. So, time was my biggest friend on this journey. Time to succeed and fail. I’ve learned that a women’s circumstances can be interpreted differently, so I had to cultivate an awareness of different perspectives, honor them, and step out of the way in order to create a space for my clients to find the answers to their hurdles themselves while I cheer them on. I’ve also learned that beauty can be found anywhere, at any age, and with anybody style. All you have to do is value it!
Amongst a great support system in place, having my “why” I’m doing this was a great anchor. I wanted to find a more meaningful solution for the women who sat in my chair, day in and day out, who are struggling with their identity and health. That’s how I overcame my challenges (and still do today).
I want the world to know that there’s so much more to women than just a pretty face, and it’s time we start living like it! SHE Awakens mission is to help women become balanced within their own feminine essence and wellness in order to love deeper, live richer, and give in ways the likes no has seen before.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love living in Colorado because it offers so much to do outdoors and allows us to really connect with nature. My favorite places to visit are the cave of the winds or the cliff dwellings in manitou springs. I love looking at ancient places because I feel like it connects me to the roots of the land.
When I’m looking for authentic and unique shopping I always head to The Barn or The Emporium in Castlerock. You can find totally unique little trinkets, treasures, and even handmade furniture there!
If you make your way out to Elizabeth there’s a cute shop called The Nest right on Main Street. It’s got a small town charm to it and unique shopping finds made by locals as well. I always check on @GarnerAndGathers website to see if she has any fun events going on that I can go to. Kim provides a totally unique experience from breath work, yoga, or interesting workshops she’s hosting right in her authentic big red barn with 360 degrees of beautiful prairie and mountain view’s. And the best part is that I can rent her space for one of my own workshops or parties for a homestead, back country type ambience!
My favorite place to eat is Dos Santos in Castle Rock because their food is always fresh, the ambience is trendy yet quaint, and their tequila bar is additive free. So, the few times I do have a drink, I go there because I know it’s clean!
If I’m feeling like comfort food I’ll head to Zane’s Italian Bistro where the food is one of a kind, and the atmosphere is great for groups and family time.
I’m most excited about Lala’s Tea and Boba shop to open on Atchison Way (coming soon) in Castle Rock. It’s going to be health conscious, allergy friendly, and additive free with a totally unique ambience. I can’t wait to perch myself at one of the tables during the week and focus on work or just destress and connect with myself again.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d have to say that my husband, Chris Royer, is my biggest shoutout for mentoring me, supporting me, inspiring me, and loving me through every single step of this decade long journey that has lead me to where I am now. Watching him build several businesses and succeed in becoming a successful and highly sought after realtor in the Denver metro area has inspired me in countless ways. Chris is not only a successful realtor, but a supportive husband that quite literally carried me through my toughest times with postpartum depression. He has taught me through his unique marketing and branding as a rugged Colorado realtor that my authentic beauty and personality are not something to hide, but to embrace and share with the world.
